A very simple seawall, it is quite spacious, nice to walk by the sea and watch the classic cars go by. I just don't recommend going in the middle of the afternoon, when there's a lot of sunshine, since there's no shade... The interesting thing is that you get a breeze and it cools you down for a while.
I just don't understand why they didn't put any palm trees in that area for shade and more landscaping, and it's pretty dark at night, so be careful.
If you are a tourist there are usually many people annoying you wanting to sell a tour or something and trying to chase you.

Come here after dancing in casa de la musica to cool off and meet some locals. At night time the Malecon is buzzing with people from Habana sipping rum, talking and having a good time. You meet former boxers, musicians and many other interesting people with everyone having a story to tell. Enjoy

Directly Havana as a capital has a magic that I have only seen in Cuba.
That tranquility of walking the streets at any time of day or night without any fear is great.
I will always emphasize that I would have liked to know the not so central municipalities or that they were on the tourist tours that make you in the hotel packages.
Very grateful to Cuba and its people, I look forward to returning next year

The Malcon is always a treat to see. From locals to tourist it has a very diverse atmosphere with the taste of old cars in the Havana streets

Every time I go to Cuba, I try to find time to walk along the Malecón Quay. This is the kind of place where you can just sit and enjoy the sea breeze, meet friends (because many meetings are set up there) or just observe the variety of activities. For example, in the morning someone fishes or goes for a run, and in the evening performs artists (like Old Arbat in terms of color and live music).
Also Malekon is the favorite spot of all couples. No doubt, because there are such romantic views from there. So I think every Traveler coming to Havana should take a walk in Malekon.

Nice seafront but nothing exceptional. I think he's overrated. Recommendation...if you come to Cuba DO NOT change money into pesos. They accept Eur everywhere

The filthiest dirtiest country I had ever seen and I've been to over 50 countries, has nothing to do with poor people, they throw all trash into the sea, when you walk you will see tons of dog poop in the running not sure what everywhere stinky filthy water, nobody takes care of their properties everything run down, cars blowing so much film that you could die from that disgusting air pollution, I am sorry but I don't have anything good to say about this country and especially this area where I took this picture in the evening not sure why they can put trash cans so people will start putting in and because they don't pay much there it will take just one person to clean up all the areas once a day once a week whatever it is not sure what their problem is just filthy filthy filthy... They cut off electricity all the time multiple times a day if you're lucky maybe you could get one or two hour a day to get the AC running, be prepared, or check with the hotel if they are going to have a generator otherwise staying at the Airbnb or whatever those small hole on the walls places through hotels.com etc. is not the way to go do not go there not safe and super dirty everywhere!!!

Muy de acuerdo. Fantástico lugar para caminar, correr, sentarse y disfrutar de la brisa del mar. En la noche, muy agradable para pasear con los amigos.

Hello,
start your visit in the centre of the old town with the capitol and the street Obisco, where most of the shops are.
A good idea is a tour with the oldtimer trough the old town. The Malecon is not very spectaculaire.
There is also the possibility of an open hop-on hop-off bus to see a little bit of old Havanna.
If you have more time don´t miss a visit at the world famous Tropicana show. But it´s a little bit outside and you need a taxi (about 20 US Dollars)

Hi. I actually stayed in an apartment in this area. I like to be in a neighborhood environment and take in all the local culture. I know this isn’t for everyone. It is an interesting experience. Totally safe if you decide to stay in a neighborhood. It’s an easy short walk to old town. Hope this helps.

Either is good ….. Malecon starts at Old Havana and goes 4 miles to NW Vedado. So you could get a casa closer to Old Havana and still be close to all the restaurants and bars. If you are going to stay on the Malecon make sure your room has a nice view of the Malecon from your window or terrace as that's the prime reason for being there.

Nice air conditioned car and walked around old Havana. The tour was about seven hours.

We were at the far end, at the Havana Club, which has good food & drinks but emphasis on show & music. We drove about 7 miles on the road & didn’t stop otherwise...

HOla yo acabo de estar en octubre y está muy bien, puedes pasear, yo llegue en un crucero y pasamos tres dias, recorrimos la catedral, la plaza de armas, el Capitolio por fuera,el teatro la habana El malecón en general muy interesante y lo más valioso su gente. Anímate a visitar la habana es un bello y único lugar

El malecón, al igual que el resto de La Habana y de todo Cuba, es un lugar seguro para pasear a cualquier hora del día, noche incluida. Los cubanos son muy respetuosos y en todo momento la sensación de seguridad no os abandonará. De todos modos os diré que el malecón resulta precioso al atardecer y que por la noche pierde una pequeña parte de su encanto aunque sigue siendo un lugar perfecto para pasear a cualquier hora...
