We took 2 exursions including one for Saona where the day comes the bus never came and no one warned us, the excursion was moved but we were angry. For Samana excursion, we had very little information, especially about the journey, which was endless and in the end we did not stay very long at the place in question. Big lack of seriousness and communication

We took the safari tour from Leonard. It was advertised as including horseback riding, visit to a school, cocoa plantation and visit with the monkees. This was an 8 hour tour with most of it spent on the open air truck. The truck had the exhaust pipe so low that the fumes filled the passenger area, especially the front rows suffered. We were taxied to from our condo to meet up with the truck at a Bavaro service station. We then headed out towards Higuey stopping at a little store to buy stuff for the school children. We then stopped at the side of the road beside the school which was in session. We did not visit the school or even get out of the truck. So much for the candy and pencils and scribbles that we bought at inflated prices. Then we drove for another hour before getting to the horse back riding. The two lead horses were restrained and walked by a farmhand. It lasted maybe 15 minutes then we were shown how a cigar is rolled and shown into an area where we could buy cigars or other touristy items. More sales. We then proceeded to Higley proper where we walked through the market area so we could see what the real DR was like. Lo and behold we ended up at a store owned by the guide's brother where we could again purchase souvenirs, go figure. Meanwhile we gave some bubble gum to some kids we saw along the walk so we had a close following for the remainder of the walk. We then went to the catholic basilica to check out the architecture. Scantily clad visitors were given skirts to wear. Then off to the mountains for another hour to a farm that produced coffee, cocoa, vanilla, mamajuana, another opportunity to buy stuff we had already been exposed to. At this farm we were walked through the abode of a Dominican family. Lunch time at a restaurant where you could zip line for an additional payment. Lunch was very good and peacocks roamed around the eating area. After lunch we were off to the monkees. We drove for about an hour to Macao Beach which was very nice. The monkees were two monkees at the beach area where you could pay to have your picture taken with them just like the beach near our condo. We stayed there for an hour not having been told we were going to a beach the lack of towels and swimwear restrained our enthusiasm. Back to Bavaro on another hour truck ride. There were sufficient bathroom stops but several bathrooms were below standard. If your are into an 8 hour shopping trip interspersed with a few activities, this is for you. At 75 DOLLARS U.S. I did not feel that we got value for our money.

I loved the tours, especially the Rum Factory & Caves. Had a wonderful time with my guides. Fully recommend it and will definitely be back with lots of friends and family.

Just a short 10-15 minute drive from the El Dorado Plaza (Bavaro/Punta Cana) step back in time, be introduced to, and explore the rich culture and history of the Taino people. Located directly beside the Pirate Rum Factory is one of the many caves throughout the DR that had been used by the Taino. As you traverse your way through this multi-coloured lit cave, your guide explains the history and cultural significance of the DR Taino people known as Classic Taino. Their many "gods", vessels and ceremonial masks can still be seen today represented in many paintings and artworks.
Back inside the Rum Factory, the Art Gallery hosts a fine collection of handmade, clay-fired traditional Taino sculpture pieces, that are available for purchase. Also inside, sample-taste and learn about the 300 year old pirate rum recipes, that are now infused with the fruits and flavours of the DR. Vibrantly hand-painted glass and rum bottles depicting Dominican scenes by Rum Factory artist Jaccene., who will also personalize any of the bottles, grace the shelves of the gift shop. As I found out from one of my friends vacationing in Punta Cana, personalized bottles for that special occasion (destination wedding, anniversary celebration) make a delightful addition to the table(s). All in all, a more than worthwhile excursion.

I traveled in punta cana in february with family,i made some exurcions(four wheels and saona) with Leonard Tours,it was great,the best souvenir of my holyday.The price is good,the service is top,good treatment.

We spent a fun afternoon at the rum factory during our Punta Cana trip in January.
It started with a tour through the 'Cueva Taina' , which was led by our great guide Batista. It's a beautiful natural cave , decorated with authentic native Taino artwork and all kinds of informations regarding the Island, colonization, life of the Tainos etc. Batista is a super happy and friendly Haitian guy who has his history lessons down! He's fluent in many languages , very polite and helpful , and what we loved about him most is that you can see and hear how he genuinely cares about the topic and making you understand it.
He showed us around in the cave , explained to us what it was used for by the Tainos and knew a lot about the mineralogy and speleology facts .
It was really interesting and we learned a lot !
After the cave, we entered the rum factory and got to try all the amazing flavours of rum they produce. It was fun, delicious and again very interesting, as you learn how the rums are made and infused with different flavours. We chose our favourite and bought a bottle to take home :)
You can buy bottles with all kinds of gorgeous handmade painting on them, and even have bottles customized with writing and pictures of your choosing .
The Staff at the factory and cave are super open and friendly , very helpful and make it all a beautiful experience. None of the things they offer are overpriced, everything is priced very fair .
We would definitely come back, and we recommend it to anyone who goes to Punta Cana :)

My husband and I used Leonard Tours for an all day adventure to Sanao Island. Everything was amazing and we would recommend this. The boat, food, drinks and all transportation was perfect. Michael is a wonderful person to work with and will meet every need that you might have.
