Boat was ready to go on schedule, fast ride, got us through customs on St John quickly and onto Red Hook where we were transported to the airport.

We’ve been traveling to St John with Dolphin for 25 years. The service is outstanding in all aspects: scheduling, airport greeting, ground transportation to the water taxis, and of course the water taxi rides from St Thomas to St John themselves! Major shout outs to Greg, Brittney, and Kim for amazing customer service.

Dolphin Greg and his team always do a great job and this year was no exception. Captain Kamali was especially good this year. Got us thru customs at St John before the ferry crowd came in. Top class service and worth it everytime.

Decide to take the private taxi from airport in St Thomas and then the private water taxi to St John to make sure we could start our vacation as soon as possible. Everything was wonderful and skipped all the lines and business of getting a public taxi and taking the ferry over to St John. Smooth and dry boat ride with all staff extremely accommodating. While worth the splurge to get to St. John this way. We actually decided to take it on the way back to St Thomas on our way back as well.

Dolphin Water taxis are reliable and deliver a great service - certainly makes the transfer between St Thomas and Tortola a lot smoother and faster.
We originally took the public ferry which is ok, but the line through customs on arrival in Tortola was slow and you stand in the heat with luggage, and there are usually 50 people trying to get through together.
The return journey with Dolphin was really easy. They accommodated us into a ride share which kept the costs down - kids are discounted too. The communication response times was good and generally less than 1-2 hours by email or minutes by whatsapp, which was very helpful. They dealt with customs for us.
The boat arrived exactly on time and mother and kids transferred to the boat - met by a really kind and helpful driver - Jaime - who made the experience one to remember for the kids. Drinks on the way and safety first.
The final car transfer was seamless so overall great value for money. Highly recommended.

I vacationed on Jost Van Dyke (group of 14 people) from November 10 – 15. We normally stay on St John, so this was the first time staying on JVD or BVI. As rookies on JVD, we did not realize that scheduling an early flight out of St Thomas is not a good idea. It is necessary to clear with BVI customs, as well as USA customs on St John. We did not realize that when booking the resort. With that in mind, Dolphin Water Taxi really came to the rescue.
We used a different water taxi, scheduled by the group leader, for the arrival; however, since two of us had an earlier departure flight, we made our own return arrangements. I chose Dolphin because of the reviews, responsiveness, and price transparency. From the time of reservation, I had Kim’s cell phone number and was able to ask any questions. That was extremely helpful.
On the day of departure, it was pouring rain – a soaking rain. Because of our time crunch, Dolphin came to get us with their “Pretty Brick 3” boat. We were shocked when we saw it pulling up because it was huge and there were only 2 of us. I later found out that they chose this boat because it’s 400hp and can reach top speeds and this would help with our tight flight schedule. It was clean, extremely comfortable with plush seating, …….and fast.
Captain Nick and his mate were awesome! A line had already formed at Great Harbor customs/immigration; they appeared to not be open yet and the line was around the building. As a result, they made the call to take us to West End, BVI because they had already checked and there was no line and customs officials were accepting passports now. On the ride to West End, it continued to pour rain, so we huddled under the awning and they put it at full speed. We cleared BVI customs (the captain took care of all of this while we remained in the boat) in about three minutes. If we stayed at Great Harbor, we would have still been in line, so that was greatly appreciated.
We then went full speed to St John for USA customs (and the rain stopped, thankfully). We now got to enjoy the comfortable seating of this boat. St John/USA customs officers do not allow passengers to remain in the boat; they want to see you in person. Captain Nick and his mate guided us through the customs process with ease. They literally stand in front of you and tell you where to stand and when to approach the customs officers, etc. This process took about 8 minutes. From there, we went full speed to St Thomas. The entire water taxi process took about 1 hour. We couldn’t believe how fast it went, especially considering the weather.
When arriving at the St Thomas port, Captain Nick guided us to the entry fence and pointed straight ahead to the road where there was a shiny black Chevy Tahoe waiting to take us to the airport. Everton was our driver and he was awesome! We needed to use the restroom after the water taxi, but the businesses have signs that note they are for customers only. Everton took the time to find one that would allow us to come in though. The Tahoe taxi was spotless, clean, and comfortable. The whole trip was like traveling in luxury. We had good conversations, as well, and learned a few things about BVI and USVI.
Originally, we were worried about making our flight; however, all of Dolphin’s tactics got us to the airport early. While the rest of our group was struggling with a different water taxi company, we were sitting in the airport terminal relaxing and eating pizza with an hour to spare before our flight. Also while sitting in the terminal, I received a text from Dolphin just making sure that we had made it to the terminal on time. We didn’t realize how much thought and consideration Dolphin put into our journey until we experienced it and the great results that came from it.
We really appreciate this company and will use them again on future trips. I strongly recommend them, especially if you are new to BVI travel. Like I said earlier, we are not new to the Virgin Islands, but it is a whole different process when you stay in BVI. You need an expert, like Dolphin, to help you through it.

Great trip! We were lucky enough to have Dion on our trip from St Thomas to Jost Van Dyke and return trip a week later. Everyone was very knowledgeable about customs and very organized. We were picked up at the St Thomas airport and to the boat captained by Dion. He was so sweet and helpful a group of six ladies, especially with all our luggage! Service was great! Will use again!

Cannot say enough about our trip to and from Jost Van Dyke. The views were amazing, and the customs process was expedited and simplified. Special thanks to Dion for a smooth trip back, and for hoisting our giant heavy suitcases on and off multiple times with a smile. I'm sorry that we overpacked! :) I will definitely call on Dolphin the next time I visit your beautiful corner of the world.

This company is the real deal! They communicated well, went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience possible and we thought the price was very reasonable. It’s hard to trust people when you’re visiting an area you’ve never been to. Rest assured, Dolphin Water Taxi is a company you can trust!

How long did it take to get to Scrub island from STT? Is it quicker clearing customs on the way back?
เขียนเมื่อ 21 สิงหาคม 2019
Hello and thank yo for the email.
The drive from the STT airport to meet the boat in Red Hook is approximately 30mins. From there, it is a 25 min boat ride to West End, Tortola, a 10 min customs entry process there, followed by 35-40 min ride to Scrub Island. Just under 2 hours door to door.
And on the way back it is even a bit faster than that.
Let us know if you have any other questions! Reservations can be made at the website .
Thanks!
Thanks

Thanks for the note!
Yes, but only for groups of 6 or more. Its a little too costly for fewer than that at our min fare base of $49ppx6guests (295) for a 1way lift over when you only have a couple going and 1 hour wait time.

Do you provide service from Guana Island to St Thomas? Thanks
เขียนเมื่อ 9 พฤษภาคม 2017
Thank you for checking in with Dolphin. Sure we serve Guana in both directions. As a matter of fact, Dolphin Water Taxi is the only provider able to serve any BVI destination by boat. We provide service door to door from the STT airport to any Island or charter dock throughout the BVI. Rates will vary depending on the # of guests and can be found at the FARES page on our website.
เขียนเมื่อ 9 พฤษภาคม 2017
What would be the cost to transport us from the east end of Tortola to STT airport area? Or even to Charlotte Amalie? We are having difficulty coordinating transportation in order to catch a plane. Is it priced per person or by the trip? We are looking at June 16. Thanks in advance.

Hello Shari
Thank you for the email to Dolphin Water Taxi, voted the
"BEST WATER TAXI/CHARTER OPERATOR IN THE VI", by the St Thomas Daily News
for the last 2 consecutive years, and now the largest private provider in
the entire Caribbean.
We would love to accommodate your group from the East end of Tortola
to the STT airport.
FOR CONVENIENCE AND TIME SAVINGS!
Although it is always less expensive to serve Tortola destinations by our
land transfer after west end customs clearance, Dolphin is the only VI
Boating provider licensed to serve all BVI destinations by boat if our
guests prefer. Our larger, faster, more comfortable boats perform this
added service (pricing below). And when using our larger vessels, Dolphin
guests can bypass the time-consuming outbound BVI Customs stop in either
Road Town or West End and proceed directly back to the USVI for clearance.
Dolphin offers door-to-door service from the STT bag claim.
We depart on your schedule, and since we operate a fleet of cabs and boats,
late flights wont interrupt our ability to transport you timely to the BVI.
there is a link describing our St Thomas to the BVI service in detail at
the home page on our website.
Its VERY convenient, and you cannot get to your final destination any faster.
Using Dolphin to handle you from the STT bag claim all the way to your hotel
or charter dock removes a lot of anxiety after a long flight. Plus, with Dolphin
you wont have to worry if your arrival flight is running late - we have a great
relationship with the BVI Customs Authority who will stay open to clear Dolphin
guests in to the Territory as late as 9pm (seasonal offering).
And with our "ExpressClear" customs document service we save our guests a
considerable amount of time going in and out of BVI customs houses
by completing their paperwork in advance (All guests entering the BVI must
still present themselves and walk through at the Customs house).
Dont forget, with any private boat operator customs/Immigration and processing
fees apply in each direction.
1-WAY TRANSPORT FARE
The total 1-way per person transport rate of $138pp plus tax breaks down as follows:
$119 water taxi from anywhere on the east side of Tortola to Red Hook.
$19pp private Dolphin cab from red hook to STT
LARGE VESSEL UPGRADE OPTIONS AVAIL AND DIRECT SERVICE BY BOAT
Dolphin Water Taxi is the only provider allowed to go direct to any BVI
point by boat after customs clearance. And to return direct to the USVI
from any point in the BVI without stopping at West End or Road Town customs.
The larger boats are more spacious, with a restroom onboard. They also come with an extra
crewmember for enhanced service and safety, and also offer a smoother open ocean ride.
IMPORTANT - INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMS AND PROCESSING FEES
There is also a $40pp International Processing fee payable in cash upon entry and exit.
BVI Departure taxes are included in this $40pp for those guests exiting/returning with Dolphin.
The captain/crew will collect this when verifying passport info during boarding process.
Part of the service we offer here at Dolphin is to ensure your customs paperwork is
completed in advance of your arrival. Having these BVI customs documents completed
in advance saves 20-30 mins of processing time at the customs house.
In the event your flight is delayed beyond 7pm, we would not be able to get you
cleared into the BVI that evening and your Dolphin Water Taxi fare is 100%
refundable, or you can apply it for a run over the next morning with us.
HOW TO MAKE A RESERVATION WITH US
If you'd like to book up the date(s), simply complete the following secure online
reservations form located on our Dolphin Water Taxi website
The cabs and boats also have complimentary beer and water onboard,
and can be catered with Sodas upon request.
Dont forget to LIKE us on facebook!
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
