Positives: The snorkeling here was amazing!! Water was crustal clear, lots of creatures to observe in their natural habitat. Also, the area is large enough to get away from other snorkelers and explore to your heart's content. You have the option to go past a natural rock barrier into open ocean. We did not exercise that option.
Challenges: The beach area and into the shallow breakers is very rocky, making walking challenging until you get to deeper water. By 2:30 PM the tide is so far out that snorkeling is pretty much impossible. The staff are marginally helpful. We rented an umbrella and one piece of the post was not used, leaving us with a beach umbrella four feet off of the ground. It was the perfect size for hobbits, but not humans. The strap on the mask of one of our party snapped and when he went to get a replacement, he had to buy a new mask; because staff insisted he broke the mask.

I chose to do the swimming pigs excursion and was very glad I did because everything was enjoyable and went as advertised. The bus picked us up right outside of the ship and the drive there was about 45 minutes. They offered free wifi but I had trouble connecting so I just used the free roaming on my phone plan. I left a tip for the bus guide+driver and the swimming pigs crew as they all did a good job.
Pros
• The bus guide was fun and informative
• Margaritaville at Sea cruisers had the entire beach to ourselves.
• Beach was pristine and well maintained.
• The General i.e. the swimming pigs guide was hilarious. His instructions were clear and concise.
Keep in Mind
• The food at the beach area is U.S. mainland prices. Expect to pay $10+ for a burger and fries. Nonetheless, my friend enjoyed his meal.
• My mojito was very weak. Would've been better off getting a soft drink or beer.
• The beach area has lounge chairs but no umbrellas.
I would definitely recommend this excursion for Margaritaville at Sea cruisers and other travelers in Freeport.

Our family of five, with three teenagers, really enjoyed swimming with the pigs! We had one teenager who really, really wanted to do this activity, so we all piled into our car and headed out to the venue. Once there, we had a picnic table under shade where we swam in the beautiful ocean, drank some drinks, and waited for our tour to begin. Once our tour started, we walked out into the water and waited for the pigs to come swim to us. Feeding the pigs and taking pictures with them was a highlight. After feeding the older pigs we went back onto the beach where the kids could take pictures with some of the piglets. All of the pigs looked well fed and happy. This was a once in a lifetime experience, and we have some great pictures and memories to last a lifetime. I would recommend this for activity for couples or families.

Husband and I stopped at Freeport on our first cruise. Overwhelmed with all of the vendors we meet Brooks (He works for Celebrity). We had a party of 4. He walked us back to the office where everything about the excursion was explained & paid for. When we were done we realized the taxi had left with those who had all ready booked. Brooks asked us to wait for him up front and personally gave us a ride to our destination. The whole way he talked to us about his town & its history. We were nervous that we wouldn’t be back to our ship on time and asked him if he would be back. Brooks said he would be there with us and so would his car. He showed us where we would be. Beautiful clear beach with picnic tables w/umbrellas. There was also free WiFi and a place to buy drinks, Beer, mixed Drinks and Food. Turns out Brooks was not only our tour guide but he was also the one who was in charge of explaining the rules and info about the pigs to us. He was Amazing! So funny! Very personable!! The whole experience was amazing!!! We loved Brooks!!! We had a couple of hours after swimming/feeding the pigs to swim in the beautiful water. It was an amazing day and honestly the highlight of our cruise!! We will definitely be returning if we’re ever in Freeport again. We have been recommending this place to anyone who will listen. I see some bad reviews but our experience was nothing but amazing!

Warning!!! On the Carnival Freedom now in Freeport. The swim with the Pigs was sold out. However when we got off the ship there was a tour company in the port that offered this excursion at Crystal Beach. Do not I repeat do not book with them. We got to the beach via a taxi they procured for us and when we got there he told us he would pick us up between 2-2:30 then we were met by a lady at the entrance who told us our Pig tour would be a 2 and would last for 30 min. We told her our ride would be there at two but she assured us that wouldn’t be a problem. At tow we lined up for the tour and one of the people in our group was not doing the tour he went and met the taxi driver to tell him we were in the tour. The man told he didn’t care and he was leaving at 2:30 even if we were not there. Now first of all this was a can not a tour bus, second he worked with the tour company and third there were no other transportation options to get back to the ship. We cut the tour short and only spent 15 min with the pigs. At 2:26 most of us were in the van and the man proceed to yell at us closed the doors with my two sons not yet on. Then he pulls out a knife lays it in the dash and said I’m not putting up with this $#*@ today. We finally get back to port and try to go to the tour company which said it was open till 5:30 everyday and they were locked up and gone. Below is the company information. Just don’t want anyone else to go through this.

Booked this excursion through Bahamas Paradise Cruises (that’s for another review 😐)
It was a particularly warm day so the bus ride from the port area a bit uncomfortable with weak A/C and the windows had residue which made sightseeing difficult, couldn’t hear info driver was sharing on speakers. Smaller van type bus back to port so much better though.
The beach, bathrooms, showers, food (conch), drinks and service was great. Saw rays, sea turtle, and several species of fish on walk in from beach snorkel. Kayak available to rent $15. Wish they had that and snorkel gear more obviously available to rent -it was not clear, posted, or obvious enough. Our group would have taken better advantage of that. SWIMMING W/ PIGS was interesting and cause for lots of smiles. Big Mike and staff that day took good care of us and the pigs. Listen to their instructions and all should go well. Beach umbrellas and lounge chairs available. Some rocks in water on beach, just watch your feet placement as it is usually clear water.

We took a day trip on the ferry from Ft Lauderdale to Freeport & then to Crystal Beach to swim with the pigs! We didn’t really know what to expect when we got there bc the ferry didn’t really explain much except swim with pigs. Once we got there we discovered it was a full hour on a private beach, with cash bar & food (with the most amazing bartenders ever!!!!) then we got about 45 minutes with the pigs & then a little more time on the beach before the bus came back to get us. General Brooks literally made our day as well as Big Mike! Not to mention the hot bartender & security guard.
It was very clean & professional. None of us got bit by any of them or pooped on which is what everyone kept saying would happen. Well worth the money, if your hesitant just do it, I promise you won’t regret it & have the best day ever.

I can’t say enough good things about this experience with celebrity eco. My husband and I visited on an excursion with Bahamas paradise cruise. From the moment who stepped off the ship onto the bus and arrived at crystal beach, we had nothing but a blast. Big Mike was absolutely amazing and made the experience 1 times better with his amazing positivity attitude and funny jokes! Such a great vibe with good music, great food and drinks and breath taking views that I will remember for a life time. You can tell they are expanding which I can’t say to come back and see how much further and bigger they become. Thank you for the best memories!

My wife and I enjoyed this excursion very much!
Big mike was awesome. Well worth 25 bucks!
The resort we went through gouged us on taxi. I suggest you do your tour on your own not with a cruise line or hotel will save you money. Also don’t go ahead of time we got stuck there an hour or more waiting due to a crappy taxi service.

Hi, We are going to Freeport, the Bahamas on 8/1. Our kids want to do Swimming with the pigs and my cruise line is not offering. Can anybody let me know how and where to book and also in our group there are 8 adults and 5 kids? Do we all have to pay for the excursion because only kids want to do? I don't want to spend too much money. Please let me know.

I think we were on this excursion with you.... It was the worst day of our Cruise. I even got stung by a jelly fish there and the staff didn't really seem to care but to try and feel me up.

Ironic! There was someone else there that we met that day that got stung! I hate that for you and the fact that it was the worst day of your trip. Yes, it was a big disappointment for us. We tried to make the best of the day as I'm sure you did too. We will NOT be booking any more tours with Celebrity Eco Adventures.
