This location is now closed to the public due to concerns over safety of the building and grounds. Occasionally exhibits are shown in on of the halls adjacent to the main building. These however tend to be only advertised locally

After many years of driving past the deserted abbey and wondering what lay inside, we were lucky to spot an advert from the Office de Tourisme, Mortain offering occasional guided tours this summer.
This tour is not for the faint hearted who have no knowledge of monastic life and a poor grasp of French. You will see the cloisters, the abbey church and the chapter house but the bulk of the visit is a very erudite talk by the guide about the history of the buildings and the people who occupied them, with significant asides into Norman history and the genaeology of the rulers of this part of the world.
If you are an avid reader of Brother Cadfael and have a reasonable interest in church architecture (and reasonable French) you will enjoy this!

C'est en allant aux cascades que nous avons découvert ce lieu par hasard...et quelle surprise!! Une immense bâtisse avec sa chapelle abandonnée , figée dans le temps... il ne reste qu'une partie du cloître avec ses 2 galeries mais cela reste magnifique !! En pleine journée, il y règne une ambiance apaisante malgré l'angoissant arbre mort , dans la cour...
Mais j'imagine le changement radical d'atmosphère dés le crépuscule^^

Je suis passer devant en revenant des cascades et je doit dire que ce lieu ma intrigué a en faire demi tour pour le visiter. Il est dommage qu'un panneau ne soit pas mis a l'entré afin de savoir ce qu'est ce lieu. Sinon le site est jolie et blizzard a la fois. Par temps de pluie pas sur que je me soit arrêter Mais sa vaut le détour. Les bâtiments sont abandonnés et mal entretenu . Dommage
