カテドラル西、道路を隔てた広場がこのグアダラハラ広場です。カテドラルを覆うように、四面広場ってなかなか見られません。広場には、ここにも噴水がありました。グアダラハラには多くありすぎて、どこの広場の噴水がどれか、写真を見ないと思い出せないくらいあります。スケールの大きな計画のもとに作られた街であると言えます。

Es una de las plazas que conforma la Cruz de plazas ubicadas en el primer cuadro de la ciudad, conocida también actualmente como plaza Guadalajara, por su ubicación privilegiada frente a la catedral y el Palacio municipal resulta ideal para tomar un descanso o beber algo en el restaurante al aire libre que ahí se encuentra, además de que de ahí parten algunos tours y recorridos turísticos.

Around the massive circular fountain on Plaza de los Laureles, opposite the Guadalajara cathedral, sat grand old men in cowboy hats smoking cigarettes or reading newspapers and having their shoes scrubbed and polished till the last grain of dust was swept out of them. The square’s name was changed to Plaza Guadalajara in 1992 to commemorate 450 years of the city’s establishment. Everything in Guadalajara seems to have been though through to the minutest detail. The shape of the fountain - an oyster with rose petals - alludes to the two nicknames of Guadalajara, "City of Roses" and "Pearl of the West".
