While visiting Cozumel via cruise ship, we wanted our 17-year-old daughter to try out scuba diving. (My husband and I are certified divers.) We booked a private Discover Scuba trip for the three of us based on the number of positive reviews here on Trip Advisor. Eduardo was so good with our daughter and extremely patient with her as she nervously completed the required skills and her first dive. We would love to dive with Eduardo again if we are in Cozumel.

We did our Open Water certification with Cozumel Sports in February 2019, but forgot to write a review (oops!). We just visited again and completed our Advanced Open Water certification. Eduardo is very patient, speaks English fluently, and has a great sense of humor. Not only did we feel safe and receive helpful instruction, but Eduardo has become a friend. We definitely recommend Cozumel Sports!

…and this time I brought my girlfriend to get certified, so we can dive while the guys ski (elsewhere). She was really nervous but settled in to lessons well and loved the experience! We’ll keep going back to dive with Eduardo anytime we’re in Cozumel! 😀

If you're looking for a great scuba or snorkeling experience in Cozumel, this is the place! Local very experienced divers who provide thorough instruction. My family and I did the discover scuba and had the best time. We also had snorkelers and they had an amazing time as well.

Eduardo gave our family of five a great Discover Scuba experience while in Cozumel during our cruise (we booked directly from his website, not through the cruise line). We had never been diving before, and he walked us through everything step by step and took great care of us the entire time. The reef was beautiful. Now we are hooked on scuba, and we all want to get certified. Highly recommend Eduardo and his team at Cozumel Sports!

Highly recommend Eduardo and his crew. Very courteous and worked hard to make sure our dives were great. Not enough weight on first dive to go down with the rest of my group and was quickly pulled out, weights added, and taken to where the group had drifted. Only lost 10 minutes or less. Equipment all assembled, help getting into BCD excellent, and was able to take the BCD/tank off in the water to keep the weight off my back. Guide was excellent, making sure we saw fish and other sealife we may have missed on our own. Cruise ship was late docking and Cozumel Sports adjusted their schedule with no complaints. Being only 5 minutes from cruise docks gave us plenty of time for two dives. Be sure to take a few dollars for restroom attendents at the marina.

Eduardo gave us a great Discover Scuba experience. We were two non certified divers, one person had never been diving. Eduardo gave us a 30 minute run down of the functionality of the scuba gear, made sure we understood, and then we spent a few minutes practicing our skills.
After the skills practice, we did two 40+ minutes dives drifting through Paradise Beach and Paradise Reef in Cozumel, very close to the cruise ports. The marina we met at was only 5 minutes from the port.
All in all a great experience and a superb value. Would recommend and use this diving agency again.

My daughter and I booked our Cozumel Sports 2 tank Discover Scuba independent of our cruise ship based on extensive research, price and great reviews. Pre-trip communication was excellent and the meeting place was easy to find. Eduardo patiently conducted the intro lesson, answering all of our questions. We saw lots of sea life and had an amazing time. Get the picture package! This is my second trip with Eduardo and my daughter’s first. Thank you Eduardo… look forward to diving with you again!

There really isn't a whole lot to add here that others haven't already addressed, but I like to read reviews so it's only fair that I throw in my two cents.
We are a family of five, and myself and three kids (12, 14, and 17) wanted to see if diving was for us. We're all avid snorkelers, but diving was brand new. My wife was along for a nice boat ride. I had gone back and forth on whether or not to try scuba or take a couple of additional snorkel trips, but the divers at our resort talked me into it. I couldn't thank them more.
I called Eduardo the day before we wanted to go out, and he explained the program over the phone. This may not sound like much, but his English is excellent, which helps immensely in a phone conversation when the other party doesn't speak Spanish. We worked out the details, he sent a quick paypal request, and we met the next day at the marina.
We spent 30 minutes or so on the boat covering the basics, potential dangers, and then a brief itinerary. The boat motored out of the marina and around the corner, where we suited up and exited the boat in about three feet of water. A previous reviewer complained about this, but we found it perfect. Having never put on a BCD or breathed from a regulator, we were all pretty nervous. Being able to stand up initially was very calming. Eduardo put all four of us through a quick series of tests/exercises (clearing your mask, clearing your regulator, finding your regulator, etc.) and once he (and we) were comfortable we swam off into deeper water.
We were immediately on a decent reef with plenty to see, and finished off in about 35-40 feet of water 45 minutes later. Back in the boat, we motored on to another reef and hopped into the water. This one was much more established with a wide variety of fish, more developed and varied coral, and a glimpse at a blacktip reef shark at the very end. For experienced divers I'm sure there is much more marine life to see at other (deeper) dive sites, but for the novice this was absolutely perfect. So much so, in fact, that we booked Eduardo and Captain Flaco (sp?) for another trip two days later.
Why you should choose to go with Eduardo: We stayed at the Iberostar, and Dressel Divers is on site. They also offer a Discover Scuba program, and I have heard nothing but god about their operation. It would have been much easier to walk 100 yards from our room and hop on one of their boats - until I checked the situation out. Most dive shops (Dressel included) run larger boats that pack in up to 20 or so divers. If you're experienced, I can see that not being a huge deal. We aren't. With Eduardo we had the boat to ourselves and as much one-on-one attention as we wanted. Given the fact that I was quite literally putting the lives of my children in a strangers hands, I couldn't have been happier with my decision. It felt like they were learning to dive with their long lost Mexican uncle. We happened to have a car, but it's well worth grabbing a taxi from your resort and diving with Eduardo - not to mention he charges significantly less. For an extra $50 he takes Go-Pro photos of the whole thing and will send you a Dropbox link. I highly recommend it.
My 17 YO spent the first three days of our vacation moping around and Facetiming his girlfriend. After our first dive, he had a huge grin plastered on his face that wouldn't go away. My wife mentioned in passing to the Captain that she should have brought some beer while we were on the first dive, and five minutes later one of his buddies on a snorkel tour boat was tossing Coronas into the boat. This isn't a fancy boat or operation, but you won't find a better, safer time, or more bang for your buck. It doesn't hurt that he's a great guy to be around and has a hell of a sense of humor. We'll be back next year to get PADI certified. Thanks Eduardo!

Do you guys visit any reefs for the 2 dive discovery?
Liquidathlete
Cozumel (เกาะโกซูเมล), เม็กซิโก7 ผลงาน
Yes, we visit 2 different reefs. First dive is very shallow, starting in 3 feet deep and slowly go down to a maximum of 25-30 feet and it is used to practice basic skills, gain confidence and get used to breathe with the regulator. There is reef and small animals.
Then in the second dive, when you are more comfortable, we visit a more colorful reef with bigger corals, more fish and bigger animals. We start about 25 feet and we could go to a maximum of 40 feet deep. These are probably the easiest reefs to learn how to scuba dive. Cozumel Sports is the way to go!

Hi Pat.
We offer scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing and private tours.
We can't solve your question with the hotel you booked.
Once you fix this, then we can talk about a Snorkeling trip to the Sky (El Cielo) or any other thing you may be interested.
Best regards!
Eduardo
