I understand your frustration, but as I understand it they are rotating the diving areas that are allowed. We were there 2 weeks ago and we dove at Palancar Caves and at Casa Blanca, which is in the middle of the Palancar area. Diving is such a huge tourist attraction in Cozumel, they will not close everything. However, they must protect the reef and I think all responsible divers will agree with that. We were also there last October and though the Southern areas were closed, we went to other sites just a little more toward the island center. Great sites and actually saw more sharks than I had ever seem farther south. If you have a particular site in mind, you may be disappointed if it just happened to be in the rotation of closed sites. But, there are so many, I am confident you will find a good dive site available. The Scuba Shacks want to please. Without tourism ,they are dead and they know it. .

I tipped extra to have ProDive wash and store my gear at the dive shop on the water each day from the Occidental Cozumel. When we went to the mainland to dive the cenotes, the ProDive people had a van of their own, a delicious lunch for us after our dives, and they gave every possible bit of help we could have asked for. Our job was to take a cab to the ferry on Cozumel across to Playa del Carmen, where a representative of ProDive was there to meet us and take us on our day's adventure. I always dive my own gear except for cylinders and weights; they had everything else. I did rent a 5 mm wetsuit to dive the cenote on one day. They make it all so easy. I can't recommend them enough.

0 Votes Yes as you should be back at the dive shop at around 4pm or so, this leaves enough time to get back to your cruiseship. You can therefore participate in the afternoon 2tank, hope this helps

Hi there, thanks for contacting us! As for hurricane season, please don't be concerned! yes there is an official hurricane season in the caribbean but that doesn't mean we are likely to get hit. You would have to be really really unlucky for that, the last major storm we received was in 2005, so its 11 years ago. A tropical storm, as we are in the tropics, of course can always happen but also is rare, the mexican caribbean maybe gets 1 per year or none per year, so i don't think its worth planning for a storm :-). Unless storm insurance is very cheap.
