It would be a shame to label this a mere Par 3 course. Well designed and super challenging course by any measure. How many 250 yard par 3's have you played ? Over water shots are REQUIRED. Fantastic staff. JOSUE is the best !

This is not what you think of when you think par 3. Every hole is hard. You can put 4-6 balls in the water easy. #18 is 190 yards to a island green. We played for $70 dollars. The course is in great shape. I have play it 3 years in a row.

Unlike most par 3 courses, this one winds through the jungle and across ponds. Many holes are hidden from the others. So none of those parallel fairways. Some lengthy holes (275, 225, 220) and only a couple under 100 yards. Lots of water in play as well as bunkers. If some of the pricey full courses make you pass on golf, give this one a try.

There is a hidden jewel that many would not know about, because it is a par 3, 18 hole course inside of a swank resort in Playa. El Manglar is a great course. A great value. A great staff. The only draw back is that it is played quite a bit and some of the tee boxes are worn our because of so many people using irons off the tee. If you are not a par 3 course player, like I am not, that would be a good challenge for you, and it is also quite enjoyable ....

Trato de ir a jugar con mi esposa una vez por semana y El Manglar es uno de mis campos favoritos, es un Jack Nicklaus ejecutivo par 3 muy bien diseñado y en algunos hoyos con grado de dificultad, si vas en tu auto, al entrar tienes que ir al Lobby principal del Gran Mayan y ahí te dicen en que espacio de estacionamiento te puedes quedar, caminas hacia el lobby unos pasos y en la parte de atrás pasan los trenes que te llevan al club house. Hay restaurante para desayuno en el hoyo uno. Es muy bonito y puedes ver fauna silvestre incluyendo cocodrilos e iguanas gigantes!

For being in the middle of a huge resort, the course is surprisingly isolated with only a few holes near accommodations or roads. Bring an extra dozen balls, because you will not be retrieving them from the jungle or the water. The holes vary in length from 77 yards to nearly 300 yards for an interesting variety of tee shots.

I found a deal for 35$ (18h green fee and golf cart included) otherwise I don't think I would have come (full price is +/-130$).
I rented the clubs for 42$ (all Titleist. Loved the 714 AP1 irons and the 915D driver) and got 40 practice balls to warm up for 10$.
The course is beautiful, in good shape and really fun to play. Greens always protected with several hazards (water bunkers and even iguanas and crocodiles). I played from the black tees. There are 2 holes with more than 220 yards so I had to hit the driver. It's a executive course so all holes are par 3.
I wasn't staying in the hotel so I got there and at the entry a shuttle service that goes around the course and hotel took me to the pro shop and Green Break restaurant.
After the round I had lunch there. I had de 'torta cubana', two Leon beers and a espresso all for 25$. Service was good and the dish was generous. 'Happy hour' (2x1 on drinks) starts at 15.

We played 8 times at the twilight rate of $60 each. They have decent rental clubs, but we brought our own. The greens are true. The course is impeccable. Lots of waste areas, bunkers, and water. Coatis, iguanas, cormorants, herons watched our balls go into the water. Use extra club to make it to your target!

Aunque el campo es par 3 en sus 18 hoyos, es diseño de Nicklaus. De hecho lo puedes encontrar en internet con el nombre "the nicklaus par three experience at vidanta riviera maya". Mucha vegetación, lagos, cocodrilos y bunkers le ponen reto al campo. Incluso hay un búnker en el centro de un green. No cuenta con caddies, pero no los requiere.

We were staying at Grand Mayan and played five times in two weeks. Some of the par 3s are really par 4s, unless you can hit the ball 225. The tee shots are challenging - several over water, some over desert, some over bunkers. Holes vary from 77 yards (not as easy as you may think) to 225. Play in 2 1/2 if no one is ahead of you, or 3 1/2 with resort golfers, but fun either way. Reasonably priced and the staff is very cooperative. Fun, resort, entertaining golf.
