Es una experiencia inolvidable. Son las grutas más grandes que he visitado y por el inmenso tamaño que tiene se le da el nombre de "Catedral".Ciertamente el camino no es el más adecuado pues se necesita una camioneta alta, este es complicado después de la puerta donde se paga la entrada, pero se puede llegar a la entrada de las grutas caminando durante una hora. También se puede puede ingresar con un poco de dificultades con el carro y dejarlo en el estacionamiento, después se caminan como 20 minutos hacia la entrada. Recomiendo ampliamente ingresar por "Camino A Cieneguillas en la entrada de" Albino Martínez " pues el camino está pavimentado. A la gruta puede ingresar cualquier persona, para bajar hay unas resistentes escaleras de madera y es seguro. Vale totalmente la pena.

Sin duda un lugar mágico , inexplorado e injustamente desconocido!!

Es un poco complicado llegar, pero el tour vale completamente la pena, las grutas son hermosas y únicas , Valdemar ( el cuidador y guía ) es un señor súper amable y encantador. Yo fui en mayo con una amiga que vino de Europa y las dos lo recordamos perfectamente . Es una visita súper recomendable y uno más de los encantos de nuestra hermosa Huasteca Potosina.

Hermoso lugar un poco difícil para llegar

Estábamos en la Laguna de la Media luna, y los locales de ahí nos dijeron que se hacían unos 45 minutos en coche a la Gruta, lo cual no es correcto porque omitieron que teníamos que caminar unos 2 kms.
Son unos 12 minutos de carretera hasta llegar a un camino de terracería con muchas curvas, un solo carril y barrancos, en terracería hay que recorrer unos 13 kms para llegar al lugar donde cobran la entrada. Ojo, que aquí solo cobran, luego hay que recorrer en coche otros 2 kilómetros para llegar al estacionamiento, aquí el camino se vuelve más difícil, sin camioneta y con lluvia o tierra mojada sería casi imposible subir en un sedan. En el lugar del estacionamiento hay baños, no venden alimentos ni bebidas. El tramo final se tiene que hacer a pie (salvo que traigas una camioneta) son unos dos kilómetros en subida (no todo el tiempo), se disfruta mucho el paisaje, es hermoso, hay vacas alrededor. En la entrada de la gruta hay baños (no muy cómodos), no hay donde conseguir ni alimentos ni bebidas. El recorrido de la gruta se hace en una hora aproximadamente. La verdad está hermoso el lugar, para mi sí valió la pena el recorrido, por la gruta en sí y la caminata que hicimos. Yo no lo recomendaría si llevan niños pequeños o personas que no pueden recorrer largas distancias, también si llovió o hay muchas posibilidades de que llueva es mejor ir otro día para que no se metan en problemas si van en un sedan.

vale la pena en verano sin lluvias

la verdad nosotros no sabíamos nada de las recomendaciones que aquí se hacen. y simplemente fuimos con el GPS, llegamos muy bien por un camino de terraceria en 40 min aproximadamente en un mazda 3, posterior se rentan unas camionetas que te suben a las grutas por 300 pesos, y son otros 20 minutos. las grutas están muy padres y realmente parece una catedral hecha naturalmente.

Llegar ahí es el camino al Infierno.

Desafortunadamente nuestra experiencia fue no muy buena. Visitamos el lugar en verano, tiempo de lluvias. El camino que es de tierra y lodo, se puso sumamente peligroso. La camioneta resbalaba, a tu lado izquiero puedes ver el despeñadero. Horrible. Camino solo y descuidado. Sin una sola señal que indique el camino. Completamente solo y sí, sinceramente peligroso. Si pueden ir a otro lugar con menos riesgo, háganlo. Hay otras grutas con mejores condiciones para visitar en familia.

A must see!

The grutas are a definite must see if you find yourself in Rio Verde or in surrounding area. However, plan wisely Although approximately 25 km east of Rio Verde, only a small portion of that is driving on a smooth paved road. About 80% of the drive will be on very curvy and narrow dirt road with spectaular views straight out of a National Geographic special! You will pass through tiny little pueblos dotted with big, happy cows that are far more interested in the lush vegetation than looking out for oncoming vehicles. But a gentle honk seems to do the trick.
You will eventually arrive at a large gate next to a large sign informing individuals that you are arrived a state park. Go inside and pay a minimal entrance fee, and away you go. From that point the road becomes even bumpier due to runoff from previous rains but the natural beauty of this enchanted area makes for a fun adventure! Your car will have to cross a few streams before arriving at an obvious information center with a large parking field right in front of it (to the right). Therefore, drive a vehicle that can handle this kind of terrain. From the parking lot area, you will hike 2 more km until you reach the gruta entrance located left of the suspended bridge that connects visitors to eco-friendly restrooms (bring toilet paper and hand sanitizer).
The hike itself is pretty easy but not flat. You will have to cross 3 streams with beautifully clear and cold water no higher than mid calve. The road can be a little muddy but you can certainly role up a sturdy baby stroller. It is this part of the adventure where you may encounter many very small but colorful butterflies, grasshoppers and flowers. And yes, more well-feed cows!
Keep in mind that you cannot bring strollers into the gruta. It is damp and dark inside, but surprisingly not claustrophobic. The ground can be wet and in some areas down-right slippery, so be careful. But an impressive sight to see!

pues le hace falta rehabilitacion al camino ya que para llegar hasta alla esta peligroso al menos a nosotros nos toco mucha lluvia y el camino estaba super resbaloso, las grutas son padres pero si hace falta un poco mas de luz, ya que si se lanza uno a meterse esta un poco dificil bajar con solo la cuerda. pero en si es un lugar bonito.

Es una maravilla natural!!, el único problema es la llegada, Hay poca señalización para llegar y el último tramo del trayecto está algo complicado para vehículos muy bajos o autobuses (camino muy estrecho y sin pavimentar) recomendable el uso de camionetas pick up, 4x4 o SUVs.
Una vez dentro hay escaleras para poder recorrer y luces para poder admirar las formaciones.

El lugar parece estar abandonado por las autoridades turísticas, puesto que hay letreros que indican lugares para acampar, estacionamiento y caseta con servicios, pero nada de eso está funcionando. Los residentes locales han retomado los recorridos e incluso comentan se han descubierto nuevas grutas.

Almost Fell to My Untimely Demise BUT The View is Wondrous

They are beautiful and wondrous! I visited them when I was around 22 or 23 - which was 20+ years ago! (woah! I'm old!!!) 20 years ago there was no nice stair leading to the entrance. There were not lights inside. We didn't plan this trip (kids and their planning...) and when we arrived it was NOT a town but just a community. The people living there were so friendly and kind and fun! The usual guide with the equipment was there that day but his brother kindly said he'd take us. he had us hop on his truck along with his wife and extended family. He led us in and he was the only one with the flashlight. I was the last one in the line to enter so I couldn't really see at all! and only followed the flashlight ahead of me and the shadows of my friends. I saw them make right turn and I was briefly left in the pitch dark but I wasn't worried because I saw where they went and groped my way through. All of a sudden I feel my self begin to fall forward and no ground underneath my left foot and at the same time feel someone roughly yank me back from the sleeve of my jacket (wish I still had that jacket). It was my friend who was sitting perched on one of the large boulders. There was a 3 foot drop from where I was going to step and couldn't see and that ledge was only about 2 feed wide where I most certainly would've probably tumbled over down down down...and squish! Luckily it didn't happen! The view was breathtaking here! I need to go back again! (I was forced to pick a time of my visit but this only goes as far back as 2017...)

La Media Luna es el atractivo por excelencia en el Zona Media de San Luis Potosí, tanto para nadar como para bucear. Sin embargo en temporada alta es imposible entrar por la gran cantidad de personas que la visita.

Una opción nueva para los turistas son las Grutas de la Catedral, las cuales también están en el municipio de Rioverde; a 40 minutos aproximadamente.

Estas grutas recientemente las abrieron la público y están en medio de un bosque de encinos. Al pie de las grutas se pueden estacionar solo unos 4 o 5 autos, pero el estacionamiento está a 500 metros y la caminata es bonita por el paisaje y el río que se tiene al lado.

Las grutas son pequeñas, tienen iluminación escénica y estructura de madera para visitarlas. Los guías, de la comunidad, son amables y pacientes en el tour. Hay lugares para comer y baños ecológicos.

No se arrepentirán de esta visita.
