Our daughter did a couple of dives with them a few weeks ago (Mike) and loved it. So we wanted to dive and thought we would dive with them. We found Brenda (the owner) to be very friendly, professional and helpful. The shop has a very “warm, friendly and relaxed feel”. The rental equipment my wife and daughter used was in excellent condition. We did four dives over two days (Tim). The vis was excellent, safety was a top priority, and we saw lots of sea life, everything from octopus, star fish and sea cucumbers to nudibranches! We look forward to coming back and diving with Nanaimo Dive outfitters again. They have a great team!

My husband contacted this dive shop weeks ago to arrange a dive on the HMCS Saskatchewan in our one day passing through Nanaimo before catching the ferry back to the mainland and driving home towards the prairies. We stayed in this unfortunate city specifically for this dive as it is known as a world class wreck, despite mostly enjoying warmer weather diving. Unfortunately, although we had information on when and where to meet from the shop, and had responded to all of the communication that was sent, they did not send us our final quote, which we realized when sifting through communications later that morning. However, giving them the benefit of the doubt since not all dive shops are incredibly organized (and it usually works out based on our experience with over 260 combined dives) we arrived at the designated location for our planned launch...and there was no one else to be found. The shop phone went straight to voicemail and while an email was quickly answered, their explanation was that we had not responded to their questions (untrue) and the trip was not confirmed (ultimately true but unclear). In the end I'm very sad to not dive the Saskatchewan as this was going to be a highlight of the trip, and I always love getting under water. I can't comment on this dive shop's gear or guiding because I didn't experience it, but be diligent in your communications with them so you don't end up as disappointed as we were.

I emailed several dive shops about doing some diving in the Nanaimo area and Nanaimo Dive Outfitters was the only shop to respond to my emails and cater to my needs which was much appreciated. All the gear I rented worked great and administration was real easy.
I am a relatively novice diver but my guide Andrea was really great in providing a refresher while also letting me remember things on my own. We did a total of 6 dives over three days. She was very safe and knowledgeable about diving. She also knew where to look for wildlife and we saw many Giant Pacific Octopus and some Wolf Eels along with dozens of other interesting critters. I don't expect guides to produce wildlife but it was nice to be with someone that knew where to look. Overall, she did a really great job and I was very satisfied with my experience!

So, long story shorter; I completed 4 discovery dives on a holiday last year and fell head over heals in love with scuba diving.
My son and I completed our open water courses in the summer of 2019 in the Edmonton area.
I had intended on going on a holiday this spring and doing lots of diving but stupid Covid stole that experience from me.
So I spent the money I'd saved for my holiday on dive equipment and in turn found out the Nanaimo Dive Outfitters were diving on the island.
I called the shop up, and with less then a weeks notice they arranged 4 guided shore dives, a boat diver course, a nitrox course, a deep diver course and a navigation course.
I had next to no experience diving having only completed my open water course and not diving at all after.
The Dive shop and it's guides were knowledgeable and very professional, catering my dives to my experience level and progressing them as I progressed.
I asked a plethora of questions (some must have seemed incredibly simple) as I know virtually nothing about the ocean.
They answered each and every one never once loosing their patience.
If you want to up your game, or just want to get the most of your Nanaimo diving experiences, get ahold of Nanaimo Dive Outfitters. Let them customize your dives, and/or courses to get the memories you'll treasure the rest of your life!
Thanks again for the amazing experiences and I can't wait to come back and dive some more.

A lot of family functions are held in this park mostly during the summer months,a good number of concession booth are on this site during these functions such as the silly boat races,dragon boat races a stage to hold bands and singers that perform also a location of the 100 year anniversary plaque is along the shore you can see the ferries depart and the sea planes landing and taking off. treed area for shady rest some parking along side and more pay parking about 2 blocks away.

Nanaimo dive outfitters are a very professional team, with quality equipment, friendly staff and skilled, professional guides.

Just had 3 great days diving with Nanaimo Dive Outfitters (NDO). Firstly, wanted to give them a massive thumbs up for the level of their communication. I don't have a regular dive buddy and use dive shops and charters quite a lot. You would be astonished at how poor a lot of them are at communicating (things like are they diving the week you are interested in, can they find a divermaster to guide you, can they supply tanks of the correct variety). NDO were great. I knew what to expect and when and where to turn up! Thanks! I knew I was going to have fun even before I got out there.
3 days of 2 tank diving. We went by van to the sites (all just north of Nanoose Bay). Dives were great. The divemaster/guide knew his stuff and knew the area. Saw tons of octopus, wolf eels, nudibranch and, of course, fish. Thoroughly enjoyable week. Thank-you Shirley, Theo and Scott!

An excellent shop for diving in Nanaimo.
We did a two-tank dive and hired a DM to guide us. Chris was very professional and knowledgeable and a great guide.
Cpt. Steve is great, too. He also knows everything you need to know about diving in the area.
I felt that all the prices were very reasonable. And the shop was very easy to deal with both over email and by phone.

I did 2 shore dives while my husband and kids snorkeled. The dives themselves were spectacular-I am only new to this game but was so amazed at the life we seen so close to shore. Matt was an excellent buddy with endless patience. My only issue was that I would have liked a bit more communication before my dive, I had to ask for details twice in the days running up to the dive. Only a tiny issue really

Do you offer snorkel trips to Snake Island to snorkel with the seals....if so what is the cost per person and the duration on the trip?

Hi there. Yes we do offer trips out to Snake Island. The whole adventure takes about 3 hours by the time you get outfitted with equipment and travel time to and from the island. You spend approximately an hour in the water with the seals. The cost of the trip is $99 (+gst) per person. We would love to have you join us.
