I love driving on the highway as it has been recently redone in places and is nice to drive on, you just have to watch for wildlife.

Beautiful scenic views as you travel North across the John Hart Bridge. The Hart Hwy offers a hub of shopping, Tim Horton's, Fortune Palace,and other restaurants along your route. Places to fuel up on your journey. Home Hardware and Great Canadian Oil Change are accessible. Approximately 40 mins from downtown Prince George you will find the turn off to Huble Homestead. A lovely stop on your travels. Go back into history and see how people once lived around 90 years ago. As you travel further you will pass Bear Lake, McLeod Lake and Mackenzie. Lush greenery along your travel with mountainous views. Many places to camp. Willow River boosts a campground, Rockin River Resort right off the highway for people who want to relax and enjoy a peaceful day. Farms dots the landscape as you continue your drive. Watch for wildlife on the highway. Enjoy your drive North.

A vehicle accident early in the morning closed down the highway to traffic until early afternoon. It is a shame that investigators can't find a way to move traffic through an accident scene without such long delays. I appreciate that they need to complete their investigation, but it is a shame to hold up so many people instead of clearing the backed up traffic. We drove back to the McLeod Lake store and they helped us find a back road around the accident scene.

Tying Primary Highways to these Secondary Highways.
Caribou was the foremost Highway in Prince George out by the Airport and adjacent John Hart Highway. Well maintained, heavily used. Province has let the road go, and forgotten about that North route.
John Hart Highway supports thousands of commuters daily. Best maintenance and least in repairs,. Best Highway in Prince George.
Prince George is North America's biggest small town, and usual traffic times of a 1980's small city; yes most of the city is closed by 5pm, and rolls tight to 6:30 am. Maybe lunch hour rush, or Holiday traffic, but otherwise expedient commute.
Compared to Prince George roads, these are the two best

Are you the recreational type of folks? Do you love exploring, possibly seeing wildlife, and other things? Well this highway both to the south which is the Cariboo Highway, and to the North which is the John Hart highway until Dawson Creek, is littered with lots of provincial parks, places to explore with snowmobiles, and with ATVs. Some examples of provincial parks include (listed from South to North): South Chilcotin, Bridge Lake, Green Lake, La La Hache, Whiskers Point, Crooked River (Bear Lake), Carp Lake, Tudyah Lake, McLeod Lake, Bijoux Falls, and many others along the way. Those are just some of them that are on the stretch of highway. You will also pass the Powder King Mountain Resort.
Overall, this is a really good highway for those liking to explore.
