We recently visited the famous players in Prince George and had the worst experience ever. The seat my son was in had metal sticking out and jabbed into his thigh. The floors were not washed as our shoes were sticking to the floors. It was an absolute pig sty and! No body emptied the trash bins as they were ALL over flowing with garbage and garbage on the floor. We paid for extra butter and there was barely any on our popcorn. I’m not sure who to talk to about this but it seems to be a reoccurring issue and it’s very poorly managed. We no longer find it enjoyable especially for the amount that we have to pay of a family of 5. We will not be returning unless the theatre has a complete facelift and it’s not such a hazard to the public’s safety. Fix your chairs and atleast wash and sanitize the flooring. Health safety should be priority!!! From a very unhappy customer who will not be returning.

Every isle of the theater has a disgustingly dirty seat (ketchup or jam?) smeared all over the sides or was completely broken. Did not feel good to sit for any period of time. Floor was nasty and sticky my shoes are peeling off the ground. A few lights in the theater (4) were flickering or on strobe mode. Just overall horrible atmosphere. If I could give less than 1 star I would have.

The least this theatre could do is start renovating one theatre area at a time. It is dirty and outdated. The bathrooms are often dirty and stinky. Our city deserves much better than this . People have been complaining about this dump for years .......and nothing is done.
I would be interesting to know how much money they pull in.
Come on , clean this place up , stop treating the citizens who pay the money like second class citizens .

This theater is disappointing. It's outdated, small, obsolete and the worst part, the owners don't seem interested in changing any of that. While so many Cineplex theaters receive upgrades, this theater never does.
It's the last "Famous Players" I'm aware of and the inside hasn't received anything in the way of upgrades in almost 20 years. I've been to theaters in bigger (and smaller for that matter) cities and usually it's an "experience". This theater is like going to your grandmother's house to watch CPAC on her 32" RCA tube TV. The seats are old and many are broken. They don't recline, they are uncomfortable, some have no drink holders, they are ripped and torn, there is no VIP seating, no IMAX, no seat service, no 4DX, and the sound system is obsolete and unimpressive. These are all things 90% of the other theaters I've been to have people! And to the person below who says we shouldn't expect these things in Prince George, that's just not true, and just a terrible attitude. How will we get better things with people like you around? Plenty of cities with populations close to ours (Sarnia, Grande Prairie, Airdrie, Kamloops, Fort McMurray, Sault Ste. Marie, Belleville, Vernon, etc, etc, etc) have MUCH better facilities so that point is moot. And we're paying the same price. The arcade is laughable (it has the same air hockey table and games they had when I was a child), and the lobby is comically outdated. Long story short; this place needs an upgrade BADLY.
Now for the worst part: when I contacted Cineplex about this a few years ago, I got a response. In short, the regional manager who responded explained that the Prince George market wasn't a priority for the company, and a business decision was made to not upgrade the facility. Nice.
I suppose if it's the only movie theater you've ever been to, maybe you'll find it acceptable but once you've had the steak, it's going to be pretty hard to come back to the ground beef, especially when they both cost the same. The only thing that could save this place is a renovation, or if a night at the movies here cost me $10 with ticket and food, not $35.

Where to begin... this famous players location makes the filthiest outhouses feel/look like 5 star hotels. Nothing quite like having your feet suctioned to the floor, broken arm rests, broken/stained seats, overflowing garbage cans, bathroom doors that have obscenities written all over them/don't lock, missing/broken toilet paper dispensers. The lack of cleanliness throughout the rest of the place makes me wonder how they continue to pass health standards and whether or not they disinfect the "arcade" (amongst everything else). There is zero pride taken in this place and its reflective in every conversation with the staff/so called managers, tonight the concession was out of more than half the flavors of pop, the candy cabinets were empty, token machines for the arcade side were broken, and the staff dealing with the issues were more interested in muttering under their breath than dealing with the lines. Disorganized chaos, and I can fully understand why no money is coming from the upper echelon to make improvements/upgrades to this place. If I could give less than a single star rating I would - the sad part is, it's like this every single time and has been for years. Do yourself a favor and save the $50 per visit, disney+ is $5/month and your couch is far more comfortable ( likely cleaner too and free of mystery marks).

How hard is it for PG to revive/upgrade our ONLY movie theatre. It’s filthy, the seats, the bathrooms, etc...it’s embarrassing for residents that this is the only option we have. Even the arcade is gross, the games are outdated, not properly functioning, are dirty, etc.
We’ll just watch movies at home, its cheaper and more comfortable. I would pay the high price if it meant nice seats, edible food and worth the price of going.

Theater 6 uncomfortable old style seating. Lost in time. No video 1st 10 minutes audio only. Then it kicked in. Only game in town so I guess it doesn't need to catch up.

This was a state of the art theatre in its heyday but sadly even in terms of the basic theatre experience, Famous Players 6 is now lacking. Since they are the only theatre in Prince George showing first-run movies (other than the Drive-In during summer), they're under no pressure to update or maintain their facilities. Run properly this region (BC's Northern Capital) could support more than 6 screens. Yes, IMAX and/or AVX could be asking for the moon and stars. Or possibly some competition.

Some of the recent reviews of the Famous Players in Prince George strike me as being somewhat unfair. They’re unfair because apples are being compared to oranges. On this very site, for example, one reviewer laments the lack of a VIP theatre, “wide Stadium Seating,” and IMAX screens. They’re also sad that there isn’t a “choice of seven restaurants” like in “the other City Theatre.” Regardless of where this “other City Theatre” might be, it’s clear that there’s a lack of understanding as it pertains to Cineplex operations.
The Cineplex in Prince George is operated as a “Famous Players.” This brand is used in smaller towns and cities – those that focus on the more traditional cinema. Thus, most cinemas under the aforementioned brand typically operate with three, but no more than ten, traditional screens. Similarly, the concession stands are also traditional in the sense that they tend to serve popcorn, drinks, candy and what I’ll call gas station-type nachos. If you’re looking for an Outtakes or Yoyo’s, you won’t find it here. Given that background information, it should come as no surprise that the Famous Players in PG is basic, at least as far as modern movie houses go. It features 6 screens (4 3D), traditional snack stand and a fun, albeit dated, arcade. Parking is also pretty decent.
If we’re able to recognize that we’re not walking into a SilverCity or Colossus, then we should be able to fully appreciate the movie-going experience. I mean, I don’t tend to visit the movies for fancy drinks or quasi high end burgers. I come for the films, popcorn and a beverage; so, the “no frills” appearance of this movie house doesn’t offend me. Granted, I will concede that the seats come across as dated now, but that’s kind of the nature of the “Famous Players” brand at this point. Is this a great cinema? Far from it, but it meets a need. When I lived in Prince George, I was able to see many a great hit here including the likes of “Mystic River” (2003), Borat (2006) and Flight (2012). More recently, I was able to see “The Equalizer 2” (2018) while staying in town for a couple of days. Great movie, especially since I had the cinema literally all to myself at 10AM!
Famous Players Prince George is basic, but not inadequate. It gets all of the major hits, and even some films that fly under the radar. Is it as good as the Cineplex cinemas in the big city? No, but we shouldn’t expect it to be.

This theater hasn't kept up with refurbs as other theaters have. Older seating. Went to the concession at 4.30 on a Saturday afternoon. Only 1 person running cash but 4 more lingering behind the counter. When it came time for my turn, the person disappeared. I waited a few minutes, a long with the 5 people behind me and finally said something that we need some service. Especially when you also need to buy your movie tickets there. I realize that most of the workers are kids but better guidance required. Seemed disorganized. Could be improved.
