I'm not from the area and came for a book reading. It's a lovely bookstore, with a thoughtful selection of titles. The books are well-displayed and there's plenty to browse through. It's clear the owners are engaged members of the community. A bookstore like this is more than just a business. It offers something special for readers, and it's well worth a look.

Real readers like to browse in proper bookshops. Canadian university bookstores, to their shame, have given up selling books in favour of branded sportsware and scented candles. So it's left to the few independents like these to take up the mantle. This is a small bookstore (selling new books only) in Westdale village, only a five-minute walk from the McMaster University campus. It's filled from floor to ceiling with books, so you actually have to climb a tall ladder (or get the assistant to do it for you) to reach the upper stock. But if you love books, you'll feel at home in this place.
