I enjoyed getting lost in the numerous cultures the ROM had on display. It was like going back in time. Every culture had a variety of art to observe. If you love history and learning about different cultures, consider visiting the ROM!

Museum etwas unter Erwartungen und mit teurem Eintritt

Während unseres Toronto-Aufenthaltes besuchten wir natürlich das ROM (Royal Ontario Museum), nach Tripadvisor einer der Top-Aktivitäten in Toronto. Der erste Schock waren die Eintrittsgelder: über 100 CAD für zwei Erwachsene und eine Jugendliche... Das Erdgeschoss mit dem großen Dinosaurier-Skelett war noch sehr gut (plus Sonderausstellung zum Thema Dinosaurier), in den anderen Etagen wirkte aber alles etwas sehr zusammengewürfelt. Die Beschriftungen waren teilweise sehr klein und rechts unten an den Vitrinen angebracht. Ich hatte Mühe, den Text mit Lesebrille zu entziffern. Insgesamt sogar noch etwas unter dem Niveau eines Senckenberg-Museums (Frankfurt) mit ähnlicher Struktur.
Tip: Pizzeria PiCo gegenüber dem ROM...

Civilization's Time Travel

Each exhibit genre takes you to a different time/place. A journey into our past while living in the present. Plan on a couple of days; one is insufficient and I became careless in my appreciation. Wish the lighting to read the inscriptions fully honored the exhibit.

Terrible waste of Money and Time

A waste of time and money.
It was a first time there as my wife and I are seniors. Employees and volunteers were unhelpful and rude. Information booth person should provide accurate information regarding tours. We were told to meet in an incorrect place where we missed the 12pm tour and after waiting then rudely told it left and was our fault we missed it!
Otherwise the 3 floors are tired, disorganized and un-inspiring. School groups of kids running around unsupervised.
Shall never return here.

Waste of Money and Time

What a waste of time and money!
Wanted to do a tour and the grumpy lady at the information booth told to wait in the chairs near the tour sign. After waiting for the 12pm tour for a half hour, the same grumpy lady said it left! No notification at all!
The 3 floors are disorganized, a playground for loud unsupervised school groups of children.
The volunteers and employees are unhelpful and can’t answer questions about the place.
Will never return to this amateur mess.

Nothing to write home about

Honestly, this museum seemed rather small. It is also laid out like a labyrinth: after reaching the end of some exhibits you have to double-back to see something new. All this being said, I did really enjoy the first floor sections On Japan/Korea/China and the art therin. The gem and mineral section was also ver extensive. Other than that, I'd say give it a pass because there is nothing too terribly striking about this museum.

A very interesting museum

The museum has drastically changed since my last visit, roughly 10 years ago. The Life of Earth exhibit which covers virtually the entire second floor is the highlight. The model ships exhibit, located in the lower level, was also a highlight for me. I did miss (somewhat) the model rooms section which is gone now, but since it was nearly deserted when I saw it, its' loss is understandable.
