There was a time when late patrons had to wait to be seated so that the other patrons were not disturbed. Although there is a warning this would occur, it is ignored by the staff. I was also shocked to see food products, etc., allowed in the theatre. I did not appreciate being struck in the back of the head with popcorn boxes and various food supplies as patrons returned to their seats. Seeing a live play has lost its glory. It has become an expensive version of a regular movie theatre! Tragic for those who love live theatre.

Went to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child w/ my friend.
The theatre is great and creates a great atmosphere for the plays.
Great place to see plays and shows. Parking is tough to find due to theatre being in downtown. Need to ensure you get there 30mins before your show to account for parking and getting to the theatre.

Looked amazing with it all laid out for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
Show was brilliant with my favourite bits being the dementors scenes and all the ones with Thomas Mitchell Barnet in them who did a masterclass in his performance of Scorpius Malfroy.

The Ed Mirvish Theatre is the perfect space to hold a show of this caliber with all the gravity defying illusions, stage flying, vertigo, and pyro. Add true Canadian talent to the mix, like ‘Albus Potter’, played by TVO host, Lucas Meeuse, brings a real special medicine to the heart of downtown Toronto, where diversity, community, and story captivate both young and old. A MUST see.

This production was a major disappointment!
As I sat in the audience I discovered, after having spent $900 for 3 seats, that 3 of the 5 principle performers:
Deaundre' Woods
Marja Harmon
Darnell Abraham
would not be performing that day; with stand-ins, one of whom had the distinction of being relegated to the last page of the program, despite the fact that he would now have the lead role as Hamilton.
Manuel Stark Santos proved that he was not up to the task as Hamilton from the start. His opening number was flat and despite my sitting in the 10th row inaudible, a whisper. He appeared to be nervous and somewhat ill prepared for the task at hand. He did settle down and flubbed only one line, that I noticed, after the opening.
At the intermission I overheard another patron say that Emma Claye had a nice voice, but like Manuel, did not project it well; lacked the power. I agree fully.
Having watched the Walt Disney video streamed event of the live Hamilton production it appears that Tre Frazier's performance of George Washington was also less than expected.
I am uncertain as to why when 60% of the leads are missing from action I am expected to pay full price for an inferior product. Had I known that this would be the case I never would have purchased the tickets, certainly not at that price. But I expect that management knows that if they inform the public that the stars will not be performing not as many customers would purchase tickets; choose not be disrespected in this way.
What a waste of time and money.

The show was great but the theatre is very poor quality. I had expensive seats and could not see much of the onstage action. The lobby was packed at intermission and it was very difficult to move around. The doors also were not opened for at least 20 minutes after the the time written on the ticket. I have gone to mirvish productions before and had a quality theatre experience and this is the first time I have had such an overall disappointing experience. The theatre is not a good fit for the play. The theatre is not worth the price of the tickets.

As a Harry Potter fan, I give this play a rating of M'eh! I tried following this play's storyline but it made no sense. Performers' audio was poor making them difficult to understand. Very long 3 hours. The best parts were the dementors (very cool), Scorpius and Albus swimming under water, and the performer playing Moaning Myrtle (she was amazing, big kudos to her). The play reminded me more of community theatre with major production ticket prices. Too expensive for the value imo.

We went for Harry Potter (2A 2K) in Jan 2023. Lovely theater and the musical was really well done. Our seats were on the lower level and during intermission, the foyer was completely packed. Too busy to be able to grab food and a bio break. Other than the inconveniences of intermission, we had an absolute blast.

So first let me talk about the theatre. It’s a very nice theatre with some rich history. While the new colour scheme is clearly for Harry Potter I do miss when it was richer looking for phantom.
Sadly this is my second time seeing Harry Potter and the cast seeks to look tired. It was not as good the second time, it lacked something. The leads were almost all understudies which is ok im they were good but something just lacked they didn’t activate peoples mics at some points etc, it just lacked the excitement of the first time
Perhaps since I just saw it in London too im comparing but I remember in July it being much better

Took my 8 year old daughter to the show. Our seats were in the orchestra section, back row which was fine however, we were directly infront of the entrance doors and to our left was the A/V booth which I wasn't aware of initially when I booked them. This proved to be extremely annoying and disruptive as the show started. The gentleman at the booth kept shuffling papers throughout the performance and people were allowed to get up and leave and enter throughout which kind of surprised me because I remember when you could only get up during intermission. So the constant opening and closing of the doors was irritating. Not only that but some ushers would talk right behind us.
The show itself was spectacular as the cast was amazing. The special effects and sounds were movie worthy, but the constant disruptions ruined the ambience for us. Another thing was the back lighting on the walls which were on the entire show and over the entrance as well. It made us feel like we were under a street lamp. This also made us feel out of the show. I understand they are there for safety but they could have been a bit dimmer. I would definitely go see it again but make sure my seats were in the middle center. So in short, great show, not so great atmosphere.

Excellent. You are 2 rows back. Some prefer to sit as close as possible while others like to sit further back. But should be excellent.
I am buying tickets to see Hamilton at the Ed mirvish theatre. Can anyone provide feedback for the mezzanine box seats, or the seats and rows BB. Much appreciated

Box seats look glamorous but, in reality, your view of the stage is limited. The BB Mezzanine seats should be ok. However, as stated earlier, there is a thick bar/railing in front of the AA seats that blocks the view of the stage.
Which seats are better: Mezzanine Left row G or Orchestra Right row S?

I won’t sit mezzanine again at this theatre. It’s way too far away for my liking.
How are the seat view from the orchestra box seats? Pictures would be appreciated~

You might lose a bit on the wing of the side you are on, but 98% of the action is mid stage.
We were close to the boxes and could not see some of the musicians. They were great and they do appear on stage during the show.
Enjoy

I believe all the double letters are a bit lower than the other rows I would look at rows D to M Orchestra and the centre section . You need to be comfortable in your clothing from Boas to Jeans . Check with the box office for wheelchair access.

What would be better seats (both centered): Orchestra row J or Mezzanine row B?
I'm trying to get an idea of which would appear closer.

Mezzanine in the Ed Mirvish theatre is a bit far back. I would personally go for mid orchestra there, somewhere between rows 10 and 15 from the stage - you will get a nice whole view of the stage and still may be able to see facial expressions of the actors. For shorter people, the mezzanine may be better, since it is steeper. Even in the first rows of the mezzanine, it is difficult to see facial expressions, though.
