Très déçue. Le jardin japonais n'avais rien du tout. Les fleurs n'existent plus, tous les cours d'eau sont entièrement assechés. Il n'y avait qu'un seul arbre type "cerisier" a l'extérieur pour rappeler le Japon. L'entrée est cher pour nous dire que nous allons voir de merveilleux jardins, je ne comprends pas pourquoi il n'y a pas des discount en attendant que tout soit remis en ordre ? Les 2 seules choses incroyables du jardin botanique sont le jardin impérial chinois et les serres sinon le reste ne vaut malheureusement pas le coup car tout est soit en travaux soit asseché...

This is an attraction I will definitely visit again. The only issue we had was finding the main entrance because of the ongoing construction at the botanical gardens.

I went off to the Botanical gardens just to see the bonsai's really. I found an incredible rose garden and no Bonsais at the Japanese exhibition. Instead there was a Japanese house structure and glass cabinets with Japanese crockery and cutlery on display. Not what I want to see at the botanical gardens. The garden area was closed? Huh? So walked on and thankfully found the bonsais in the Chinese section of the garden.
I was fortunate that a horticulturist was pruning that day and spent a good hour with her understanding the care and art of working with bonsais. She was so interesting and so knowledgeable. I was amazed how many people didn't think to stop and talk to her. I learnt about the intricate care of the roots, and how they determine which side the bonsai needs to be displayed. I was also interested that trees that are over 100 years old and all trees really have a record of the horticulturists that worked on each tree. Isn't that amazing?

L’entrée était à près de 20$ par personne, pour une majorité de bâtiment fermés pour travaux, des espaces de plantes vides. Nous avons trouvé ça dommage que le coût du billet n’ai pas été adapté en fonction de ce qui était accessible

a very authentic japanese garden, among the nicest i have seen done outside of japan. Maybe second only to the one in Lethbridge.

un parc incontournable lors d'une visite à Montréal. outre ce pavillon, le pavillon chinois et celui de la flore de montagne est à ne pas manquer. Soirée illuminée à partir de début octobre. Parc immense

Hi. I have a question whether the Botanical gardens are open in Montreal this Dec (2019)?. I read some where , that there was renovation going on and possibly closed.We will be there this Dec, so hoping it is open. thanks!

I am sorry, I am not remember exactly but it was around $20.00 CADs, it is not expensive for all you can get there, it is really cheap. Enjoy it, do not doubt to visit it.

I'm planning a visit in June. What is the price of admission/parking here? Is June a good time to visit?

Hi, june will be for sure a good time to visit as flowers are in full blossom.
The admission is a combi ticket for all gardens, not only the Japanese, but any garden inside the part + insectarium.
If you're not fond on insect guess you might combine with Biodome. Ought to be 20CAD$, google espacepourlavie and you will find the admission price.
From downtown take the subway (in Montreal is called metro)
the stop is just a few yards from the garden entrance.
It will take you from half hour till one hour, depending on your location. Stroll around in the free of charge part of park, then you will see the ticket counter.
Do not miss the tea-ceremony cha-no-yu. There are some bucks more to be added but really worth to get an insight with real japanese people performing.
Bring in your own beverages, on a sunny day you'll need plenty.
Plan at least 3/4 of the day if you are not in a rush, lot to see there, and enjoy it!
Is there any cafe shop to sit and enjoy the view?

Not in the garden itself , there is a small neat cafeteria back near the main entrance.

We have a six hour layover from 12 - 6 during the day (a Tuesday) in July, on our way back to Winnipeg. Is it even possible to get to the gardens just for a break during this time?

It's possible but you will need a good taxi driver and light traffic! Even then it will be a bit of a rush.why not head to Ste Anne devBellevue and have a bite by the locks and watch the boats go by?
