Open from Thursday happy hour to sunday happy hour. NOTHING there during the week or day time for that matter. Only saunas, taverns and open air drug market.

Not worth it.

This place has seen better days. Honestly it's very seedy and dirty now. Last time I was here was 10 years ago and it's a shadow of its former self. Where once you could walk from Berri to Papineau without batting an eye, now within less than 5 min you'll be confronted by either the homeless or hookers (and agressively so) .. Everyone keeps asking how come there's so many bars still open after covid? Cause their owned all by the same person. The food selection is terrible compared to what was.. there's either Tim's or the restaurant beside the Stud bar . That's it. And the shopping is non existent unless you're in need of a sex shop. To summarize, take your money elsewhere. Montreal is a beautiful city and the myth that "you can only be gay in the village" is something the gay merchants society there created. No wonder they cancelled pride..

I suppose this is the heart of the LGBT community, and you can find gay-owned businesses along St. Catherine East. Indeed it is interesting to see so many bars still in business. But on the whole, it appears run down and not prosperous. No good restaurants, no nice shops, just seedy. Lots of pan handling and some drug sales. There is a large pedestrian zone.

Gay Village Out with the Old & In with the…

People come here hoping for a magical experience of some kind….those times are long gone. Their remnants can be found in the gutter with the hopes and dreams of so many others who have or are spending their entire lives, lost, in a sea of drugs & sexual conquests. Gay Villages were once a cultural hub of class and sophistication. Where style and design were front & centre, sought out and copied by the outside world, who came and walked the welcoming, loving and non judging embrace the gay community.
This is no longer the case. What is left of the gay “community” is a a shell of its former self that died a long time ago. The fake persona that it presents to the world that we all know is a total lie, is beginning to slip. The rampant drug use, drug overdoses, the pedophilia, the homelessness, the suicides…how many bodies can be swept under the rug before it’s realized the systemic callous, self absorbed, egocentric, bigotry that has moved into the village is finally brought to light?
Even as her lipstick smudges, mascara runs, the mask begins to fall.,..

Pretty boring gay village that's also quite dirty and chaotic, filled with aggressive panhandling. There are far better gayborhoods elsewhere.

Stumbled upon the Gay Village while walking down St. Catherine Street from the Hyatt. Looks like St. Catherine Street degrades as you travel east, run down area, drug use and homelessness is prevalent throughout area. I noticed a rare phone booth, then moments later saw some woman urinating against the wall. It was time to get out of the area.

Bienvenue dans la rue la plus horrible de Montréal! Il n'y avait que des sans abris complètement drogués qui fumaient et se promenaient comme des zombies! Toutes les boutiques fermées, très sale et ceci en milieu de journée le samedi. Ne pas se fier aux guides de voyages. Nous avons fait 5 minutes. Horrible et même à éviter avec des enfants. Rien à voir avec Paris ou autres quartiers gays réputés pour leur ambiance festive.

Nothing left on that street besides bars and restaurants. Lot's of homeless and drug dealing day and night. Nothing open before 3pm. And the pictures you see on this side are very old. The ONLY place I know where the ATM closes at 11pm, be careful

It was a nice walk around. Lots of food places, but not many shops that we came across. Lively and loved the pedestrian walkway.
