Where should I start, I went with my mum and my almost 2 year old son. On arrival we were greeted by two lovely helpful ladies at the admissions. The facilities were well located and there are handwash stations throughout the site. The Childrens barn was brilliant, my little one loved getting to see some of the animals up close, and it was great to see the staff and volunteers keeping a watchful eye. The play parks are well planned out and cater to all ages. The pig race was also great fun. The butterfly house is spacious and fresh with lots of butterflies fluttering about. They’re running craft sessions and tractor rides through half term too.
The woodland walk was lovely and peaceful listening to different bird calls, and I should imaging looked stunning when the bluebells were in season. The whole site is well laid out and not overcrowded and the memberships and entry fees are really reasonable.

The most charming day out for families with young children.
Lovely petting barn. Lovely Tractor ride on hay bales...falconry display...woodland walks and Brilliant outside play areas...butterfly walks and pig racing....involving the children at the end of the day. Would highly recommend.

Birthday outing for 11 year old daughter, the family birds of prey experience was amazing, Colin explained everything and we spent time with some of the different birds before heading off to the field to see one of the Harris Hawks in action, this is where the real magic is to experience these birds flying up to you is something I recommend everyone to do at some point. After this we had a nice lunch in the restaurant on site and enjoyed some time around the rest of the site, lots of animals to see, nice play areas and plenty of space for everyone to run around, can’t believe we have never been before, very tempted to return for some more time with the birds of prey.

Such a lovely place to visit for all ages so many things to do and see the petting farm was lovely. The pigs put me off eating bacon lol but they looked happy and well fed. Definitely visit again and highly suggest. Lots of picnic tables too and the cafe food was ok too!

Me and my two children (aged 10 and 8) are regular members here. We constantly come for piggy cuddles, and to say Hi to some of our favourite animals. Throughout our visits, when we have heard and seen of poorly animals, we can see they are well cared for and are back in the farm as soon as they possibly can be. We have seen this with our own eyes.
Walking through the forest is so calming, children are amazed at the beauty, then to build a den near the pond at the farn end of the farm, and the rainbow forest there is utterly astounding.
The kids never get bored here, the 2 different parks, the animals, the cuddles. We are here at least once a month maybe twice. Definitely worth the membership prices as for the whole year, free day out, just food and petrol costs.
The falconry experience we had today, dated 29th April, was absolutely amazing. Very informative and we fed, held hawks, owls and kestrals. My son (aged 8) was originally quite scared but Colin helped him through and soon he was feeding and flying the Harris Hawk. Amazing 2hour experience, really worth the money! Colin was amazing and so patient.

You can tell how much this place is loved, looked after and well maintained! The animals look clean and happy too. We loved every second and definitely will come back.

Took my nephew here who is 5 and it was great! Awesome day out with so much to do. Loads of play parks and animals to look at. The food was amazing too! We had a burger each and the restaurant there and we were amazed by how tasty it was. Will definitely be back!

On being greeted at the gate I asked where disabled parking was, I was told ‘we’ve had a lot of the disabled in today and I may struggle to find a spot’
I found an alternative parking space.
The animals looked unhappy, bored and had children constantly wanting to touch them, their pens absolutely stunk of urine, there was nothing to keep the animals entertained, some were tethered and had no escape of the sticky sometimes rough hands wanting to touch them. Didn’t see one member of staff caring for the animals or checking them. A business that has money as their ethos and sadly not animal welfare.

Went to centre with the family on Good Friday. Whole experience was fun and enjoyable for all of us. Although the centre was busy there was lots to see and do, tractor ride, petting animal area, birds of prey flying display and lots more animals to look at. Also on site there are toilets, plenty of hand washing facilities, different parks for children to play in and a cafe and other snack facilities. But i must admit the topping on the cake was the pig race, it was great fun and all of us from age 4 - 59 had great fun watching the race. Also finally i found all the staff friendly and approachable. All in all a good day out.

The rare breeds centre Woodchurch Kent is in a great rural setting on a very large country site with plenty of parking. It’s a great venue for families especially those with younger children. There is a wide variety of farm & barnyard animals to see including many types of pigs & chickens. There a a great emphasis on animal welfare & lots of fun hands on education. The petting zoo area is especially popular with the children. The site includes a large indoor soft play area, useful on rainy days, a great outdoor play park & a woodland challenge trail course. There is also a fort & some zip wire slides & tractor rides to enjoy. Depending on the time of year special events such as at Easter & Halloween are also hosted . There is a cafe facility & gift shop onsite too. Well worth a visit.

As a season ticket holder for myself and my grandson I have just returned from a visit to the Rare Breeds Centre and, unusually for us, decided to have something in the Granary restaurant. It must have been about 3.30 on a very busy Saturday (to-day) and my grandson wanted anything with chips but there was nothing hot or sandwiches on offer. He, therefore, chose a chocolate muffin with some smarties on the topping and a bottle of Coke. On arriving at the cash desk I was very surprised to be asked for £6.50! After getting him seated I was going back to get a coffee and cake for myself but, at this price, I didn't bother and won't hurry to return to the restaurant again. The table where we sat had not been cleaned and there was a lot of food under the table, including a whole cake which my grandson picked up and nearly ate.
Apart from this I have always enjoyed fun filled days with my grandson at the Rare Breeds Centre which has improved each year and seems very well run. I also applaud the work they are doing by having maybe slightly less able people working alongside them. But please, please revise your pricing for one cup cake & a bottle of coke!

Hi Malcolm, thanks for your question.
During the winter (until the end of March) we are open Tuesday to Sunday 10.30 to 16.30 (closed on Mondays) and then from April onwards we are open every day between 10.30 and 17.30.
Our admission prices can be found on our website - they vary depending on when you visit us.
We do offer a Falconry Experience, and you will be also be able to find these details on our website, including contact information. Alternatively, you can call us on 01233 861508.
