Having driven past loads of times over the last few years, we finally happened to be in the area during one of the pumping station’s open days so were able to visit. Friendly and enthusiastic volunteers welcomed us and were also on hand to explain the workings of the pumps and uses of the buildings. The location on the bank of the River Witham was also very pleasant. Admission was free but donations were welcomed as were purchases of cake and other items. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area on an open day.

Friendly staff who just love to pass on their knowledge and enthusiasm for this little gem. Working engines are fascinating to watch - and the tea and cakes were amazing

A great historical story of the technology that helps keep the Lincolnshire fens dry. A steam and diesel pumping station run by dedicated volunteers with a great little tea room on site where the staff make fantastic cakes (carrot cake 👍) .

Visited here during its open day on the 4th August 2019. I was very impressed. The place isn't huge, just three smallish buildings. One a museum and a tea room, the other to housing the main attractions. All working and fascinating to watch.
What made the visit were the volunteers. They were exceptional. From the chap that greeted you as you parked (and his very enthusiastic assistant) to the volunteers in the pumping houses. They were happy to talk machines and seemed to genuinly enjoy what they did. I learnt loads and thoroughly enjoyed the hour I spent there. It's also free, just leave a donation.
