An overrated, over-promoted bit of scrubland, overrun with dog-walkers and their multiple hounds. Lots of very nice parks within a twenty minute drive - Richmond, Bushey, Nonsuch, which offer much better walks.

A well-managed and well-maintained hidden gem of a parklet, down a tiny path off Raeburn Avenue.
The management really is excellent - marshalled volunteers look after the place, planting trees and removing rubbish - and, as a result, the wildlife thrives.
A place of peace, contemplation and benefit to the soul.

Needed something to do, which was nice and local and came across the website when Googling. You can tell people have worked hard to begin getting this location set up as an established nature reserve. Quiet, but beautiful. Thank you for bringing me here.

This is a sweet hidden growing jewel that after all the on going and still developing work by enthusiasts and local community will enhance this area . I really love the community feel with a local sign carved from a tree,painted stones hidden by big ! and young kids some very detailed I must say .. I love picking them up admiring the painting then rehiding for others to find ..I plan to do one myself

We often walk from a Elmbridge meadow over into the Berrylands nature reserve. We like the way it’s tucked away and offers a residential area a secret escape.

I often visit when I am walking my doc this way. Its a nice quiet little place which is slightly hidden through the back of berrylands. I quite like that as I get a nice quiet walk when I visit :-) I am surprised its not visited by more local people to be honest.

I love visiting Berrylands Nature Reserve (officially recorded as Raeburn Open Space Local Nature Reserve) with my family and just alone to relax. This nature reserve was neglected for many years having been declared a local nature reserve in 1992 but there is now a project (2017 - 2020) to restore and enhance this gorgeous little space hidden away in the suburbia of Berrylands. The Tolworth Brook (also known as the Surbiton Stream) is the life blood of this nature reserve and this year (2018) has had some great improvements made to it; ripping concrete sides and bases out, add wooden berms and deflectors, improving the flow, naturalising the banks and adding a new bridge (should be installed by May 2018). The Tolworth Brook joins the Hogsmill.
As I type this, they are digging a dipping pond too and creating a nature trail. Really great to see the community come together, volunteering to improve this site along with the support of the Environment Trust and a grant from Thames Water. Don't expect a zoo or massive nature reserve but it's a lovely spot for some peace & quiet in a built up area or for a short walk with the family.
