The Imbabura factory is an old museum that keeps several secrets about making clothes, it was one of the largest factories in Imbabura and is now a historical museum that families can visit and discover the secrets that are kept inside great factory and within this great story

This museum it's a incredible place to visit with family and friends! All the history, all the experiences and all the exhibition pieces are amazing! Long time ago, this museum was a textile factory, witn houndreds of local workers.
Definitely a perfect place to visit on the weekend!!

In my opinion what I like most about the imbabura factory are the details that appear in the different places, its beautiful statues and the beautiful landscape that is in the factory since at night many people go to appreciate the lights that appear and it is very quiet the place.

Histroria textil de esta zona
Antigua fabrica pasada a mueseo textil de hace años
Alli se puede ver como se trabajaba en aquellos ya pasados años, lña facilidad conque se podian producir accidentes laborales
Podreis ver maquinas que parecen sakidas de la misma historia y en verdad los son. Transmisiones por correas y embarrados
Vale la pena , es recomendable pero con un guía es primordial

It's hard to believe we were the only people visiting this exquisitely restored and presented factory just a few minutes outside Otavalo. They have done an absolutely stunning job with telling the story of cotton production, labor, organizing, the local economy -- all in this restoration of an incredible, huge cotton factory. Very knowledgeable and calm guides are provided for free, and she answered any questions we had very readily, letting us explore at our own space. The complex also has a play room for wee kids, a café, and plenty of other things going on. I would consider this a must-see just a few minutes down the road from Otavalo. It is very easy to catch any bus down there from Otavalo and walk a block over to the factory.

The cotton mill museum in Atuntaqui is a very unique sight. It is a former cotton mill with tons of well-preserved machinery and some unique cartoon characters. This is a great example of the Ecuadorian government's heavy investments to bring tourism to small cities around the country. We went as part of the longer Tren de Libertad II train tour and really enjoyed the experience! I recommend visiting here if you want a glimpse into Ecuador's industrial history.

We learned the National Ballet of Ecuador was performing The Nutcracker at the Casa de la Obera at the Museo Fabrica, and are pleased we attended. The hall was packed, and other than no fans to move are, it was superb wonderful experience. It was a bit stuffy due to all the people with no air movement, but we really enjoyed the performance. Well done!

The factory was in operation until 1997, although production had declined to just thread by then. Amazingly the equipment had never been updated, so the original 1924 machines are still in place. There are some animatronics that were made from some of the original machine parts and they would be even better if they were functioning right now. I understand that the museum is working on getting them going again.
Hours are limited, Wed. through Sun. Very crowded on holidays. You must take a guided tour, and they start every hour.
