Les plages auraient dues être paradisiaques mais elles s’apparentent plus à une décharge publique.
De belles et longues plages des petites criques un sable blanc.
Derrière tout ça, un abandon tous les recoins ou les touristes n’accèdent pas sont jonchés de matières plastiques et autres filets de pêcheurs, canettes de soda etc…
Bien dommage mais aussi bien réel

Une île sublime aux allures de décharge publique. Une expérience très frustrante car les plages sont époustouflantes avec un sable blanc, fin digne de carte postale mais gâché par des montagnes de déchets jusque dans l'eau c est triste.
Surtout que les activités sont nombreuses et la ville de Koh touch dynamique

Nous pensions arriver dans un petit paradis mais il nous a fallu vite déchanter. La plage est en chantier et le calme a cédé le pas à un bruit de fond de pelleteuses à 20 mètres de notre bungalow ainsi que le long de la baie. L'île en pleine restructuration à été cédée à 2 compagnies, japonaise et chinoises. Déforestation pour faire des routes à 4 pistes qui traversent l'île et l'expropriation des locaux et des petits resorts à déjà commencé. Les chantiers sont surveillés par des gardes pour être sûrs de l'avancée des travaux et des éventuels squats. A brève échéance, tous seront condamnés. Le projet, le même qu'à Sihanoukville :grands resorts et casinos.
La plage de Saracen est n'est nettoyée que par certains resorts, on a de la chance, le notre, le One le fait.

Staying at Beach Walk on Longset Beach! Fantastic spot. Amazing staff. Feel so lucky to be here.
Discovered Aussie Le Thai Restaurant and now we have eaten EVERY lunch there.
The Thai Green Currey. The Margaritas--All lime/seltzer and Tequila. Perfect.
Papaya Salad. Tom Yum Soup. Whole steamed ginger fish!

Ruhig und auch sehr ursprünglich. Etwas schwierig bzw. teuer, wenn man dort etwas herumfahren möchte aber keinen Roller mieten will. Leider hat Corona dort ihre Spuren hinterlassen, von denen sich die Insel (Dezember 2022) noch nicht ganz erholt hat. Die Strände und die Bars waren nahezu leer. Das hat zwar viele Vorteile kann auf Dauer aber auch aufs Gemüt schlagen.

Beautiful island. White sand beach. Clear blue, warm sea, water. No one hassles you to buy anything. Quiet but enough people for fun.

fin decembre 2022, depart de sihannouk (laid à mourir), ile de Koh Rong, super jolie et tres propre. On a loue des mobylettes 8 dollars la journee. Bungalow a 20 usd la nuit a Golden Beach, passer les hotels de luxe et aller au bout de la plage, preference pour les bungalows retires sur la droite du chemin en terre (avant le pont vers la cascade), bungalows au calme (!!!) et propres. Apres c est pas le grand luxe, mais pour petit budget c est impeccable. L option location mobylette, le top pour avoir de la liberte sur l ile ! Bon en trois jours on a fait largement le tour...Donc 3 ou 4 jours sur place, largement suffisant !

Koh Rong after COVID. What's happened on the island.
I want to start off by saying, if you are thinking about going, go!! It's worth it.
We visited in 2019 and were met by a mostly undeveloped, paradise Island with plenty of places to eat and stay. There wasn't much to do though.
We revisited again this year (NOV 22). Since COVID , a lot of the beach side business have closed but that hasn't left the island without a great choice of places to stay. It's has, however, reduced the amount of places where you can go for a meal.
The biggest change to the island is the arrival of a concrete road that joins all the villages and most of the resort's. This means you can explore the island without needing to hire a boat. Mopeds can be hired anywhere for $10-$15 for the full day. If you are staying for more than one day, I highly recommend hiring a moped and hiting the road.
Business seem to be reopening but there is no where near the amount there was pre COVID.
As always, the Khmer people are friendly and honest. You don't need to worry about getting ripped off or robbed.
Koh Touch remains the hub of the island where you can get everything. Police beach is dead. If you're looking for a party, head to Nest beach.
We stayed at Treehouse Bungalows not far from Koh Touch. They offer great value luxury.
Accommodation remains cheap on the island. Prices range from $40-$80 a nigh for A/C luxury to $10-$20 a night for shared accommodation or basic bungalow.
There are a few boat trips available, I recommend staying away from the $12 trips advertised everywhere. Instead, ask hotel staff for guides that run private tours. They are more expensive at $25+ pp but worth it.
Best places to eat(I my opinion):
Treehouse Bungalows - Good selection of western and Khmer food. A bit more expensive.
Jungle bar - The best food on their side of the island. Very fresh, you have to wait a bit longer but always fresh. Very cheap. Owned by westerners.
Nest Beach - Simple menu but fresh, fast, and cheap.
Buffalo's - Not as good as it was before COVID but still great food at a reasonable price.
Island life is still unique and time just slips away.
If you are traveling from Phnom Penh, the expressway has now been finished so you can get to Sihanoukville in under 3 hours($12 Toll). A far cry from the 5+ hours before the expressway.

I’m going to Koh Rong with my 12 yo daughter next week. Can I know how to go to the island from the airport? How’s the ferry schedule like as our flight will be in the afternoon. And any recommendation for place to stay? With nice beach and of course safe for 2 of us :)

One more thing I should to notice you is sandfly (or sand fly) - I've meet them on some nice empty beaches of Koh Rong and I'm was not glad (but they are was pretty, pretty much glad!).
Remember: their bites are causes of crazy itchy.
Take any good local balm or protection (with high concentrations of DEET or picaridin) and never, just never scratch these bites!

Ti consiglio Koh Rong arrivando al porto di koh touch poi da lì puoi spostarti con dei taxi boat per altre mete o altre località sull'isola o andare a soh shan...o mille altre mete...
Quiero ir a Camboya me llama la atención pero escucho que hay mucha basura y el agua no es tan limpia no se que hacer ? Tengo planificado ir a BALY y a las playas de filipinas que me aconsejan

Bali tiene playas similares a las españolas, si buscas arena blanca y agua cristalina tienes que ir a las islas Gilli que están entre Bali y Lombok.En Bali,quizás Sanur,pero poco más.
En Filipinas tienes Boracay y el Nido...en cuanto a playas se refiere.
Tanto Bali cómo Filipinas son sitios que merece la pena conocer.
Aunque mí debilidad es Indonesia, cada isla es diferente y con muchísimo por descubrir y sus gentes son maravillosas.
Espero no haber llegado tarde con la información.

ho letto recensioni ottime sulla spiaggia e il mare di Koh Rong...ma altrettante pessime per la sporcizia di mare e spiagge...qualcuno ha degli aggiornamneti sulla situazione attuale? Io vorrei partire entro una decina di giorni ma sono molto indecisa se ne vale la pena oppure cambiare meta.

Hi guys, thanks for the useful reviews about Koh Rong. i have a question, is it will be worth going to Koh rong if im traveling alone? i have never done this before, is it easy to make new friends on the way?

Yes it’s a must do. I went alone and was Devine. Make sure you stay along the front beach though as at night its scary to walk through jungle with no lights, alone.

Could you please:
- Advise me the websites of all boat operators to & from this island, along with Koh Rong Samloem? or...
- Give me advice for my case: I will be in the Sihanoukville area from 25 to 28Nov. I plan to spend 2 days 26 & 27 on the 2 Koh Rong islands. So which island should I go first to take advantage of the boat schedule & tickets? How to experience both the speed boat & the party boat? BTW, is the plankton trip worth it in Nov?

I took the speed boat both times I went to Koh Rong, caught an inter island to Samloem. Round trip to Koh Rong is $20.00, inter island is $5.00. or you can continue on the Speed ferry to Samloem. It is an hour (speed ferry) vs a 2.5 hour trip on the slow boat. There is a party everywhere you look, but also romantic spots without so much noise, both are nice in their own way. Plankton was limited about 6 weeks ago, maybe slightly more last week, be sure to have a mask and snorkel, it is entirely different view than what you see from the surface. Some of the resorts do a free plankton trip each night (Palm Tree Resort did), I also did a day tour from Koh Rong and it included a sunset/plankton viewing... we did a night dive for Plankton, got back to the island about 8:00 pm.
