ปราสาทโบเดียม - สิ่งที่ออกไปข้างนอกวัน และบทเรียนสั้น ๆ ของประวัติศาสตร์ยุคกลางของอังกฤษ! เดอะตัวปราสาทนั้นเหมือนกับเป็นกำแพง (แต่ - คนสวย! ) พร้อมที่จะปีนขึ้นไปบนหอคอย เราใช้เวลาเดินสนุกกับข้อมูลมาก แต่โจนาธาน (ฟรีคู่มือเดินวัน) และทั้งสอง เด็ก และผู้ใหญ่ มีความสุขจริง ๆ แดดออกสำรวจพื้นที่ มีจำนวนมากที่สวยงามจุดปิกนิก เกินไป มายากลจริงนี่! เชื่อชาติและในฐานะที่เป็นสมาชิกของเราได้ฟรีที่จอดรถ และทางเข้า และเรายังเที่ยวปราสาท Scotney (ประมาณ 20 นาที) วันที่

Small but interesting castle in a pleasant moated setting. Well preserved and worth a visit though tour of the castle takes only a few minutes.

Very uninspiring visit, very disappointed in the castle/ house. Long queues poor announcements about trying again later in the day. As for the refreshments beers looking at long queues, slow service and magnificently awful coffee

Beautiful walk around for pictures. Lots of critters. It has the oldest portcullis gate in England. The Bat roost was awesome. They were purring.. Great heights in the turrets for surrounding pictures. I do have to agree, parking is pricey..

Beautiful moated castle

From the outside, it’s a beautiful romantic castle. I was disappointed with the inside. Not huge amounts to see and the information boards that were up were aimed at children.

We got stuck at the top of one of the towers for 5 minutes as there’s only one way up and down, so had to wait for a break in the ‘upward’ traffic before we could make our descent. The steps can be quite steep (if you’re taking little people up there).

Parking is a bit disorganised - we were directed to the overflow car park. Which is about 200m+ from the main car park. It’s only when you get there that you find out you need a ticket (even if you are an NT member!) We didn’t get a ticket as I am an NT member - when e got to the ticket office, we advised them that we’d not got a parking ticket - they had things in hand an just took our registration. Would’ve been helpful to be told that when we entered the car park!

Very poor, good as a child but rubbish now!

Poor service and expensive from parking to grounds!!! Been going there for over 40years since I was ten but the last couple of years the service and cost has just got worse! Realistically now cheaper to go bluewater and hire bikes and have lunch!!!

The sun came out for our visit today and the castle looked outstanding. It is a picture perfect castle and exactly what a child would draw if asked to draw a castle !
Lovely tea room too and a useful shop.

Stunning castle

We visited during the Easter half term, thankfully we arrived early as it gets very busy. There is a overflow car park. The castle is stunning, great views, beautiful grounds. The staircases to the towers are not for the faint hearted, very narrow & steep, but worth the climb for the views. The staff were very helpful. The koi in the lake are truly amazing, shame you are unable to feed them. Overall a lovely day out, made more beautiful with the sunshine.

A truly mystical setting

My wife and I went for a visit for old times sake; we'd last been about 40 years ago! It is a beautiful castle in a mystical setting, and it is easy to imagine the inhabitants over the centuries while climbing the towers and battlements. It was very easy to park, and a very pleasant walk to the castle around the moat. There are toilets, a tea room, and a gift shop too.

Lovely castle

Visiting castles and stately homes is an expensive business. Whether they are managed by National Trust or English Heritage, if you are not a member it seems expensive to get in.

This cost me £12 something plus £4 to park - being alone as I was. For a family the layout would be significant. Once you accept that all these places are owned by someone, cost money to maintain, and cost a significant amount to get in if you want to, then its all good.

Bodiam is very picturesque. Ask your kids to draw a castle - it will look something like this one. Its not a very big site. Walking around the outside doesn't take long.

It has a tea room and very small exhibit by the castle, and a gift shop, book shop and cafe near the car park, so its not overly commercial.

Something that detracts slightly from this castle (and I appreciate we can't change it!) it that its not tied closely to any of the big historical movers or shakers, no major battles were fought here, it wasn't of particular historical significance outside the local area.

It is a beautiful well preserved castle. There is information dotted around, a film to watch about the history and a couple of guides near the entrance who were happy to answer questions. I would have liked more information on what life would have been like back when the castle was at its prime.

Overall I had a pleasant couple of hours wondering around, nice cup of coffee, look around the shop.
