We did this walk earlier today which we began at the Nene way at Nassington next to the Black Horse public house.
The walk from there to Fotheringhay was fairly average but began to get extremely interesting as we neared the castle.
May I add that the Fotheringhay to Warmington mill section took us about an hour at a steady pace and for walkers who prefer their walks smaller, this is the one.
As we entered Fotheringhay we passed an old pump which was gated and locked and immediately next to it was the house where Richard the 3rd was born.
As we began the 2nd part we wandered past the castle remains and motte before taking the well signposted walkways towards Warmington mill.
This was via grassy paths and we had to negotiate a bridge/ lock over the River nene which our walk seemed to hug for many of the walk.
Once we arrived at Warmington, the area surrounding is very pretty and the path passes directly in front of the mill.
We arrived at the A605 underpass approximately an hour after leaving Fotheringhay road in Fotheringhay.
and 2 hours from Nassington.
Incidentally places to grab some food on route are
The Queens Head at Nassington
The Falcon at Fotheringhay
And The Red lion at Warmington.
( The Queens head has a beautiful garden).
There is also a little shop at Nassington too.
May I add there is all day parking for £2.50 by the castle and there is camping too.
A beautiful 3 miles walk est worthy of any walkers time.
Visited 24th July 2031.
