What a superb walk down memory lane! Mr Sherrell and his family have truly made more than a treasure trove of memorabilia. There's so much to see and so many happy memories. My wife and I went there with a coach party of 45 people and I don't think I've seen so many smiles in a very long time. Such happy memories are conjured up by the vast amount of items on display.
We had a superb lunch while we were there and, to be honest, we were surprised how cheap the food was. Especially as it was such a high standard.
There's so much to see at this venue that it really needs another visit.
It should be noted that, understandably, you're not allowed to touch any of the items on display, even if it is very tempting!
Thank you Mr Sherrell and your family for such a wonderful day out.

Only found about this venue a few weeks ago, with our first visit today
Staff very helpful and friendly, entrance to exhibits as you pass through the cafe to the ‘ticket office’
On this particular day 2 coaches of retired folk was busy in cafe, but we were advised to eat early or after 2:30 when they had gone, we did both, lunch just before noon, food good size and great quality, then after 2 pm for coffee and homemade cakes 😁😎 really good size and fresh
Exhibition laid out over several linked areas, and a lot to see, from crockery to sweet shop, tobacconist shop, chemist shop, post office from Bletchley, tractors, cars, motorbikes, and various collections from signs, thimbles, beer cans, bells whisky, toys books etc etc
You will need your walking shoes as a lot of areas to look at, with so many memories from your own childhood amongst the many items
Prices to access very good, cafe prices very good, especially the cake 😊
We only live a junction down motorway, so will return
Note: Their is only one point to order food and drink, so check back during your tour to choose best time to use cafe

I came across Oakham treasures by chance and ended up spending almost three hours there, there are an astounding amount of artifacts from everyday household items, agricultural and farming to stationary engines cars motorcycles , clothing etc.too much to mention here, then there is a very good cafe /restaurant for a bite to eat.

WOW! What a fantastic museum jammed packed with nostalgic items including food packaging, medicines, toys, shops signs, post boxes and a few vintage cars thrown into the mix too! Spent 4 hours here, could have spent longer as there is so much to see! I especially enjoyed the shop stores and their products (sweet shop and haberdashery).
As a previous review stated there is not any further information on the items, however I did not mind this as the items spoke for themselves.
Family owned I believe, the museum is ran extremely well. Very accessible with lots of chairs dotted around the museum to have sit down.
One member of our group did the children’s question trail which kept us all entertained!
There is also a large cafe which we did not eat at, but it looked very nice and spotlessly clean.
Will definitely return.

What an amazing place this museum is. They seem to have just about everything there from vintage tractors, some old cars & motorbikes, medical equipment, beer can collections, tools, multiple variants of Gromit, even a working model railway, you name it & they seem to have it (just about!). The only downside is that you can only look & not touch but I guess that's the way to keep vintage things preserved. Also there are places to sit & rest your legs & the attached Acorns Cafe is a great added extra!

There were lots of different things to see and we spent nearly four hours here without managing to see everything.
We particularly liked the postbox collection and the way in which some areas were set up as if they were the insides of shops. It was great fun trying to spot packaging from products way back when and to see how some packaging of brands still used today has changed.
The reason we didn't score more highly was because there needed to be more information about items. Lots of items weren't labelled at all. Some items were numbered and there were no identification lists visible to find out what the numbers meant. There also weren't any items that could be handled, so that made it much less immersive for younger visitors. It might be worth purchasing a few items that could be handled, or making copies of some for that purpose. Still, we recognised the that attraction is advertised as a nostalgia trip, rather than a complete learning experience. The collections are to be preserved, rather than used in that way. I did note though that a number of other visitors expressed regret that they couldn't read newspapers or books on show- could some sections be copied and laminated?
The cafe was very reasonably priced and the food was tasty. We were all really disappointed with the gift shop. Not so much as a fridge magnet with the name of the attraction! We sadly left empty handed...

We dressed up warmly as we knew the museum was in warehouse / farm buildings. It was absolutely wonderfully warm & cosy in the museum & cafe , thanks to the underfloor heating. Meant we could look at the fabulous collection in perfect comfort and enjoy a really reasonably priced coffee too. A great place to visit at this time of year.
We particularly loved the cabinets the displays were in - presumably salvaged from shops too. Thank you.

This is a little gem in the middle of the countryside.
Such a find for breakfast which is freshly cooked and very good value for money.
There is a fascinating museum on site which after many visits to eat we haven’t had a chance to visit as yet,its a step back in time and one day we will see it properly.
Also if you are a Gromit fan they have several beautiful ones and Wallace shares the room while you eat your meal,lunches are also served.Highly recommend.

So much to see! What an amazing place. Spend 2 hours and it wasn't enough. Definitely going to revisit when we're back in the area. A great way to make good use of the day when it's raining!

You will love it.
We are 68 with replacement knees and several feet operations so You can rest your feet as you go around, as there is a lot to see. I hope you will enjoy it as much as we did.
