This is a very good museum.
There are 2 floors filled with (dead) animals from as small as rats to as big as horses. A key feature is that you are able to see the evolution of a human.
There is a room for discovery where families can go where there are activities for children and groups.
The staff were helpful and had good knowledge about what was in the museum. Staff were happy to help and answer any question you wanted an answer to.
The toilets were clean and looked well maintained.
There was a cafe upstairs which seemed to have multiple choices of meals and snacks. When I went it was full so I had to wait around 20 mins to be seated. Between 12-2pm it becomes a laptop free zone which is a good feature to enjoy a peaceful meal.
Overall a good museum will definitely be comping back with friends and be recommending people to go here

Incredible diversity of species. Very well organized, great for going with children even small. I loved the walk. It's very worth it. Not tired because it's small. But it can stay long because the space is well used and really has a lot to see. From huge creatures like elephants and the extinct giant lazy (skeleton) to small bees.

A really excellent museum, can’t believe this was free - in contrast we paid over £30 to see the Computing History Museum (also great but a very different price point!). I think it’s a better museum than the Natural History Museum - much better sized for children as you can digest the entire museum in an hour. Lovely gift shop.

Great museum with a great collection. My daughter and niece were constantly amazed at the specimens on show.
This museum is free to enter, has a gift shop, and a cafe. With young children you can get round this is an hour. You could spend longer as an individual or adult group if thoroughly exploring each exhibit.
If you are in Cambridge set aside some of your day visiting the Cambridge University Museums. Well worth a visit.

Good museum, with a range of items all with details of their genetic family, as well as other descriptions around habitat etc.
Good for families with suitable facilities, but very busy inside (with some narrow areas).

For my 5 year old, who is completely besotted with all things about the natural world, this was an awesome museum. So many interesting exhibits that cover a range of species from the relatively common, to some that went extinct thousands of years ago.
The museum is well laid out with lots of interesting information signs and the museum attendants were really informative and great with kids.
Best of all it was completely free. We only had an hour to spare this time, but will definitely head back soon.
Thoroughly recommend a trip !

Tucked away off the walking route from the Fitzwilliam Museum and the main shopping shopping arcade in the city centre, it is worth spending an hour exploring the fascinating exhibits.

On the 29th of May my family and I visited the university museum of zoology. Having visited several museums this year in London and Cambridge this was by far my favourite. The museum was full of old bones, animal models and real pickled organisms! We spent around 1.5 hours exploring the exhibits and also paid a visit to the whale cafe which was a really good quality. The food was a little expensive but it was a nice experience. I highly recommend a visit and it is suitable for all ages

Can you park a caravan in the car park? We are travelling home and passing Cambridge and wonder whether we can park a Range Rover with a caravan attached?
