I wouldn't have left a review until I saw the comments from the last post on staff. I would have quite happily spent the day here as it is my sort of place but the female staff member gave me ginger beer instead of ginger ale that I had requested to go with my girlfriends gin (large).
Unfortunately she chose to pour the ginger beer & advise me that they both taste the same anyway !
A momentary stand off when I asked for the gin to be replaced with a tonic water left us feeling we wouldn't be hanging around.

Could be a nice pub but the passive-aggressive landlady and surly, insolent barman made us feel so uncomfortable and unwelcome, we won't be going back.

Such a great pub. I had a fast tracked lesson about Belgian beer from Jess and Theo!
A huge selection of beers and other drinks as well as all the odd shaped glasses.
10/10 would recommend to a friend.

Das Elm Tree, ein traditionelles Pub, liegt etwas versteckt in einer kleinen Seitenstraße. Von außen wirkt es kleiner als es tatsächlich ist.
Die Bierauswahl ist vor allem für den Liebhaber belgischer Biere sehr gut.
Der Service war sehr nett. Preise sind sehr in Ordnung.
Insgesamt ein klasse Platz für ein Bier oder 2.

Great little pub in the heart of Cambridge with lots of character, lovely staff and a wonderful selection of drinks. Also has good regular music and wonderful place to meet up with friends.

The Elm Tree is a back street pub, hidden away between The Grafton Centre and Parkers Piece. It is always very busy when we visit it and rightly so, it serves a wide range of very well kept real ales and a wide range of interesting bottled beers. Worth finding.

Just popped in for a beer! Nice homely feel to the place and the staff mostly seemed pleasant and chatty!

Our home from home local when in Cambridge. Friendly, knowledgable service, especially with advice on the extensive and delicious Belgian Beer Menu. Nothing ever too much trouble. We can even picnic our own food here which we respectfully observe bringing light non-stinky bites for lunch. We just camp here for the duration of our daughter's numerous ballet classes. Delectable, lovely company and laid back...super central for Grafton Centre and Cambridge Centre. Really rather not tell too many..our special find!

That’s it really... except it isn’t, it is a great pub on so many levels, but for me the best thing is the outstanding Belgian beer selection in the menu and the eight real ales... this is how pubs should be and just occasionally they still are. An evening spent here makes your life better!

Cosy pub with a real ale emphasis. Also a large range of bottled Belgian beers to sample. Simply furnished and adorned with beer memorabilia. Well worth seeking out in a walk around the city
