The Castle inn is a great little pub, only went in for one drink but ended up staying longer, friendliest staff I’ve ever met in a pub. Jane was lovely and made us and our naughty bulldog very welcome. Will definitely return

Went in this pub alone, made to feel very welcome and struck up conversation with a few locals and John

Wonderful high end banter and nice pint

We popped in for a late lunch early dinner. The menu said home cooked food. I had the steak pie, and it was the best I have ever had! Stuffed with tender beef, and plenty of gravy. The mash and peas with onion rings as a side all perfectly cooked, piping hot served by friendly staff. Hubby had a fish pie, loads of prawns, fluffy mash on top, well worth a visit. Very much a traditional inn, warm and full of history.

Christmas day & boxing day

Have spent a good 50% of the last 2 days here. We both really appreciate the hard work Mike and Laura have put in, and thank you for opening! Good, friendly service. Boxing day football was great, and looks like most of St Ives agreed. Really well run pub.

Just home from a fantastic Christmas quiz! Mince pies and sweets on the table, Christmas music and the staffs Christmas jumpers were fab. Lovely service from both again and really enjoyed the Christmas ale offerings. Thank you very much.

Beautiful traditional Cornish Pub.

I visited St Ives for the first time and while browsing I popped into The castle Inn. What a marvellous welcome I received by Jane. What a lovely oldie Worldie friendly pub with a traditional Cornish feel. I was accompanied by my husband and 2 dogs and Jane made sure the stone floor was free of any debris due to my dogs paws and also gave them a bowl of water. What a pleasure it was being in there and I will be visiting again while I am here. Thank you Jane for being so friendly and welcoming.

"Just Passing Through"

Popped in early Saturday afternoon with my wife,disinterested bar person(barmaid) served me,thought it pretty expensive although thought it a great pint,was only having the one to kill time waiting for coach pick-up so can't really comment on general things(toilets,food etc),although will say the place was pretty empty,no atmosphere!

Spoilt Pub

Used to be a great pub and atmosphere. Reasonable now until later in the night when the atmosphere changes due to certain clientele. Can imagine there have been some ugly scenes inside or outside. This pub is spoiling the scene here, it's not Newquay or a back Street city pub. The bouncers outside sum it up, and having to leave the door open on a cold night so they can see what is going on inside. Won't be returning , will use the nearby Union , great atmosphere there.

Firstly, I'd like to say I'm a local not a tourist and I have been visiting the Castle now for 20 plus years but recently it has really gone so very down hill and it's heartbreaking to see.

I visited last week at lunchtime with some friends and the whole place was filthy. Dirty floors, sticky tables and just all in all a very dull & dreary atmosphere. This was nothing though in comparison to the toilets. The ladies toilet floor was really dirty, as were the walls with black marks on them. The toilet had a crack in it and was full of urine. I decided not to go but tried to flush only to realise the flush didnt work, hence the bowl of wee. I went to wash my hands in the sink to find black mould and a pile of toilet roll thrown to the floor.

My friend was desperate but after poking her head in decided she wouldn't go either. My friends husband visited the men's toilets and said they were just as bad but I can't comment on this as I didn't see them myself.

The Castle used to be a lovely meeting spot for locals in a cosy, traditional atmosphere but it's now a shell of what it used to be.
