My wife and I booked the picnic boat for just the two of us as something to do on our weekend break in Dartmouth, notwithstanding that it’s still a week before Easter and blowing a gale below 10 degrees centigrade.
No worries. Carl, who was standing in for Kevin, had the boat toasty and comfortable. We had a pleasant and informed potter up and down the river, stopping at Dittisham to have our picnic. This was very generous, and rather lovely. I did reflect on how bonkers it seemed, to be bobbing on the water on a cold and blustery day partaking of lobster and Sauvignon blanc, but rather splendid.
We went ashore briefly to stretch our legs, then hopped back on board for the pootle home.
Great fun. Recommended.

Had a lovely cream tea and cruise on the River Dart on the 1st of April. Kevin was a great host and really friendly to my party of relatives. My Father and Aunt particularly enjoyed the trip as they talked about the times when they lived in Dartmouth as children during the Second World War. Kevin ensured that we went to all of the interesting places and we got great views from the boat.
I can thorougly recommend a trip on the Picnic Boat!
I can also recommend a visit to the Dart to Mouth deli situated in the old market in Dartmouth that Kevin and his wife also run.

Skippered by the excellent Kevin, 8 of us enjoyed our trip on the Dart taking in Dartmouth Castle near the mouth of the estuary and going upstream as far as Dittisham (where we saw David Dimbleby in the distance outside his cottage !).
We had chosen the Seafood Heaven and West Country Luxury Picnic options for our party. All I can say is "wow" ! A great selection of local seafood, cooked meats, cheeses and bread which Kevin lays out for you whilst the boat is moored to a buoy mid-stream.
We were blessed with pretty good weather on our day but did have a small shower mid trip. This is no problem as the sides of the boat roll down to protect you from the elements.
Would certainly recommend this trip as it is more personal than travelling on the larger vessels going along the Dart. Kevin was the perfect host providing you with the information you needed but not intruding on your party.

A life on the ocean wave will never be the same after the birthday outing with skipper Kevin.
Just the four of us to enjoy something very special.
Not only was the trip great but the deli food was irresistible and all from local suppliers.
Our 8-year-old grandson has never spent such an exciting three hours.
A champagne treat that will live long in our memories.

Our family had been with Kevin before, and so they invited us to join them for afternoon tea on the Picnic boat, and last minute we invited some other friends, so we were a reasonable party!
We had a lovely time cruising up the Dart to Dittisham where we briefly stopped for my grandsons to go crabbing. We finished the trip going downriver to pass Dartmouth Castle before returning to the Marina.
The cream tea Kevin provided was excellent, with as many scones as you can eat! A memorable experience when the weather is good as it has been this year.

Today we went on the Picnic Boat. We were a group of family members aged 18-81. It was fantastic. Very fun but also relaxing. Kevin the skipper is so friendly, and the food is delicious. This time we had breakfast - tea, proper coffee, homemade granola and yoghurt, croissants, and bacon sandwiches on really tasty soft baguettes. It was rainy, but there were blankets for those who wanted them. This was for a special birthday, and there was prosecco on board for those who wanted it. It was so exciting watching the boat vine chugging along and over to pick us up.
Last August I went on the Picnic Boat with my parents, husband, toddler (2.5) and baby. That time we had scones with clotted cream and jam. My parents liked them so much they went to Kevin’s deli the next day for more, and now use Kevin’s YouTube video whenever they make scones! We also stopped off at Dittisham to go crabbing. Kevin even provided the bait and bucket. My toddler loved counting the crabs in the bucket then helping to lower them back into the sea.
Both years the Picnic Boat has been the highlight of our holiday. I can’t comment on the other company which is a copy of the idea, but I would highly recommend Kevin and the original Picnic Boat - you won’t be disappointed!

Having had a lovely experience last summer for afternoon tea on The Picnic Boat, we knew we just had to return. This time, we chose the breakfast menu for our trip mid morning celebrating our sister’s special birthday. This trip was equally great and as memorable with home made granola, fruit juices, tea, coffee,croissants, preserves, delicious BLT baguettes, absolutely delicious and taking in the sights as we made our way along.
The table looked amazing. I would thoroughly recommend this trip. Kevin is a great host and skipper, so welcoming and chats or is as discreet as much as you want him to be.
It was drizzling outside, but nonetheless we had great time, the woollen rugs at hand were a nice little touch...seems like Kevin thinks of everything.
Thank you Kevin...we will be back.

We had our second visit on the picnic boat and it was just wonderful. We were staying at hillfields and the picnic boat owners give you 10% discount on booking for staying there. We did a breakfast boat trip for one hour. The boat was on time and the food was great and there was lots of it! Fresh tea and coffee and prosecco!
A wonderful tour and the host was great. There is another company that does a similar thing however the picnic boat is the original real deal and a lovely family run company so love supporting their dream. We will definitely be back!!

My husband booked a surprise trip for us during our stay in Dartmouth. We had a delicious seafood picnic of lobster and dressed crab with champagne. We would highly recommend a trip. The views are stunning and it is very relaxing.

As part of our silver wedding anniversary celebrations we booked with Kevin for a West Country Luxury package. It was such a special experience. The food was lovely and tasty with a selection of cooked meats, salad, cheeses and great fresh bread. Kevin was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. It was a very unique experience for 4 of us. Would definitely recommend.
