Bang Bang has closed but the same owners have gutted the place and just reopened as 'Switch'. A cafe bar daytime and lively student bar in the evening. Switch has a fresh listing on Tripadvisor nightlife.

In here briefly recently and told by staff that this bar will wholly or partially close temporarily, coinciding with end of uni and college terms for major work to revive and re-enervate this slightly fading predominantly student venue.

Colin seems to have no professionalism and chooses to not serve customers as a result of personal issues. I would seriously consider changing management, colin clearly has no managerial skills. Otherwise, a lovely evening !

really great range of music, always something someone will like. Drinks are good and bouncers are polite (as long as you're not rude obviously )

Bang bang is great if you actually what to have a fat dance to some music, Cuba (bar next door) is if you want to get touched inappropriately with or without your consent.
Bang bang bar provides different music every night.
When the students are in term it can get quite crowed but in the holidays can be dead. Best go after 2am.
Also shout out the the camera guy!
Also, security are quite strict and will have you out as soon as you start any fights/ some guys got kicked out when they were harassing my friend when they kept touching her.

I find on the weekend when this place is at its busiest, the music is awful and not something you can really dance to. It's basically the same to Cuba just slightly larger and less crowded.
But you get the same staff situation, I've had a very 50-50 experience with staff here. Some are very friendly and chatty and give great customer service, others are rude and honestly don't deserve even the standard please and thank you.
But other than that, it's another place you avoid until you have no where else to go.

I went here for my birthday with a group of friends. The bouncer would not let us in since my boyfriend was eating a sausage roll, threw his rubbish in a nearby bin and mistook it for him taking drugs. I questioned it, he said he didnt give a s*** it was my birthday, the next lady in the queue said she took heroin earlier and she was allowed in. 0 out of 5. Will never come back, for the simple fact that my boyfriend is addicted to sausage rolls.

Sits next to Cuba and the burger vans in North Hill opposite the eastern approach to the university by the Sherwell Centre. A fairly average student pub. Heaving most nights in term time. Average prices. More relaxed than Cuba or the next nearest Skivving Scholar.

Student bar, next to the Caffeine Club in Tavistock Place behind the public central library just up from the College of Art. Less elaborate or slow serving than next door. An OK bar but nothing remarkable.

New name SWITCH!. Which defininition of this common word do the owners intend should apply or be recognised? I presume that they have checked with the Urban Definition online. If not, I suggest they look at the 'Top Definition' which carries a liberal and louche disinhibited approach to nightlife that they may or may not intended!
