Flares and Relex reopen revamped and combined as 'Popworld'.

These two clubs reopened a bit more than a week ago after rebranding and redecorating and now operate as one club called Popworld. Decor looks a bit seventies. Depends on who is there land whether you like the format. Nothing special or out of the ordinary as a drinking dancing city centre club.

Listing needs fresh indoor and outside pictures.

Quite an ordinary club. No particular lift from the interior or the DJ. If we had not been in a work group of more the twenty (who were treated very suspiciously at the door) and had been able to entertain ourselves, I doubt I would have stayed more than a few minutes.

What a night out!
Went to one of their regular Foam Parties, absolutely amazing night up there, got very messy! Great mixture of music new and old, will be back for the next one!

I accept most of the earlier comments but I think that Flares should not be singled out for criticism of its bouncers which are much the same as everywhere else. I have had some good times here. It depends a lot on the company and mood of the night. It's a bit down market but has the edge over some of the deadbeat places and certainly over the horrors of the vast money machines like at the barbican leisure park.

Brusque bouncers and indifferent bar staff.

Probably come here twice a year. Parking out the back or easy for taxis. Often a queue and the door staff can get a bit oppressive. No bad inside if you have your own crowd but it's getting a bit run down and dated. They ought to do it up a bit or at least give it a lick of paint. Depending on your sensitivities the bar staff ate bloody mindedly awkward or have poor memories and no sense of who has been waiting longest.

Expensive other than a few special offer deals, staff seemed very unhappy and unwilling to serve with a smile! Atmosphere wasn't too bad in front of the bar though!

Biggish central disco.

At the post war end of Union Street, Plymouth, this largish club, formerly the Prince Regent attracts a big crowd several nights a week and there is often a big queue outside. Good because it gets busy but not really my favourite because it could do with a it of modernising and it seems to pull a down market crowd. But I still go and for those with a nominated driver there is a convenient big car park just out the back.
