A lovely run along the coast on an open top bus brings you to Hengitsbury Head.
A pleasant walk, even in inclement weather. The visitor centre has a number of interesting details and is a good place to learn about the local area

They've got a local history small museum. Bird nest cameras. Gift shop. They also have a lovely garden where you can have a coffee. Toilets and bike-parking also available. Water fountains for humans and dogs. What's not to like.

Das Visitor Centre ist ganz einfach mit Busters Beach Bus direkt, oder über den Strand und Hügel vorbei an der Rangerstation mit einem schönen Spaziergang zu erreichen.
Das Centre selber bietet eine gute Aufbereitung de Geschichte des Ortes an. Auch mit Kindern interessant, unbedingt vorher informieren, da "echte Ausgrabungen " für Kinder angeboten werden . Es gibt schöne Andenken . In Sichtweite is ein kleines Ausflugscafe.

The shop is classy and good prices. The gifts are beautiful. The location is fab. The tearoom is clean and huge and brightly coloured. The drinks are good, the cakes are excellent quality and price! Would definitely return.

We had not realised that there was a visitor centre here. We entered the unknown and spent almost an hour inside with so many artefacts and so much excellent history and information.

We inadvertently chose a bad day as the visitor centre was closed. This was a major setback. Two comments. First the good: excellent walks for wheelchair users with miles of smooth tarmac. Now the bad: chaotic and expensive car parking if no disabled spaces left. We were unable to pay for more than an hour at a time, which was wholly inadequate. This was due to a parking meter fault (many were out of action). One of our party was hit by a parking fine which did kind of spoil the day a bit!

Full of stuff - all things visitor centre. Helpful volunteers guiding and supporting as needed. Worth a visit!

We spent a good few hours here - a lovely place particularly in the sunshine.
On the day we went the shop was open but not the visitor centre which was a pity. We had a look round the garden then went for a walk to the head. Staff in the visitor centre were able to advise on the best routes to take with a wheelchair.
Lots to look at, interesting interpretation boards to help.
Wheelchair accessibility
We went as far as the beach huts without too much problem. Couldn't get onto the beach. Accessible toilet was grotty.
COVID-19
All was fine. Not too crowded anywhere. Hand sanitiser in shop but no soap in toilet.

Relaxing, plenty of reasonably priced parking. Dog friendly, including beach.suitable for ages, but some areas could be difficult for those with mobility issues

It's an easy walk on well formed paths, many of which are paved and all of which are accessible for just about any fitness level (although at least one place involved stairs so wheelchairs may have to bypass a couple of spots or plan ahead). The walk itself is great with undulations to get the heart pumping - but nothing too tough. The scenery is really beautiful with coastal and estuarine heathland and some wooded areas - the vistas off to Bournemouth and Christchurch are really stunning. and there is a great visitors centre to help you plan and a nice Cafe to have a break at the end. I highly recommend this place - its not testing for serious hikers, but really accessible and worthwhile for everyone - but you'd better like dogs because there are hundreds of them, clearly a highlight for most local dog owners wanting to get a walk for them and their friend.

There are good paved paths but there are a several sections that include some steps. I suggest you ask at the Visitors' Centre about the best routes.
