This was my first time to any of the Kinos. It was
easy to find from Rye high street. A nice walk way up, with outdoor seating. Entering, it had a cafe vibe- I was unsure I was going the right way. 3 very friendly ladies welcomed me, and I advised I’d pre booked my ticket. I was tempted to purchase some extra movie treats, but I had just had lunch.
I was given “directions” to the theatre room, and from there it was exciting and ‘so cute’. The chalk board on the door with the movie name, the short rows inside, the bucket chairs on the front row with little foot stalls. I loved it!!
As I was the only one booked in - at the time, 2 others did come in as the movie started- I chose to sit on the front row, not where I had booked. It was so comfortable. The screen was clear & the sound was great.
I used the toilets on the way out. Another wow! Lights around the mirror, spacious cubicles, clean, nice hand soap.
I actually can not wait to visit again!

The coffee is very good as are there chocolate gingers. I think they need to sell these as gifts. Great pretty place with seating indoors and outdoors.

My wife and sister went to see the Elvis film this week. The woman on duty demanded " Have you got tickets" to greet them! No good evening or similar welcome. On asking about food they were summarily and rudely dismissed by her saying they no longer did food in the evening. When they left after the film, her and a man on duty did not say a word to departing customers. We had the same experience a month or so ago when the manager on duty was equally rude and again no welcome or godbye. Very different to the Hawkhurst Kino where staf are very wecoming and polite. People should not be employed in customer facing positions if they do not have decent mannners and customer care skills. A pity as other than this the Kinos are a great boon to the area.

Kino Rye is a quirky 2 screen cinema in an old Victorian library. We went to see the new Top Gun movie there. There is a large cafe / bar area and seating outside with a lot of food and drink choices (we had a very nice tea and latte.)
We were in the red cinema which is the larger of the two (still only 96 seats.) legroom is good and better than a number of other independents I’ve been to. The seats were very comfortable for a 2 hour plus film. The screen is fairly small but so is the cinema but the sound was excellent.
Would definitely recommend if you are staying in or around Rye.

I’ve just had the absolute pleasure of eating and seeing a movie @ The Kino in Rye.
W💙W!
It’s a perfect hideaway spot, comfortable little bar and quick food (panini etc) and decent coffee.
Being a bit of a film buff, I have experienced so many cinemas, and tend to avoid the homogenous ‘big guns’.
The Kino ticks all the boxes with bells on. Comfortable seats, leg room, super clean and great sound. And they don’t totally rinse you with their ticket prices!
Belfast as a film is a total triumph.
Only slight negative, the lady making coffees prior to the 5.45 performance, please remember that customer service, should always come with a smile! Niceness costs nothing but leaves a huge impact!

Had a meal before seeing a film - both excellent. Small menu but very tasty food. Very welcoming and comfortable place for grabbing a bite.

Fantastic independent cinema in the heart of Rye. 2 screens and a full bar with great snacks. There is a cafe as well though we did not use that. Small auditorium with a giant screen. Takes you to the movies!

If only more cinemas were like this. Comfortable, relaxing, stylish and - quite frankly - I'd happily pay more for no popcorn and no adverts. A joy!

We have been coming to the eatery at Kino Rye for years & have brought others too. It has always been a positive experience.
Sadly, today was the polar opposite.
We arrived at 2.15pm at the end of the lunch session wanting a couple of coffees. While it was full outside there were only a couple of tables taken downstairs & one upstairs & all had been served. We asked if it was okay to go upstairs & that we just wanted two coffees. The young woman's demeanour changed when we said we just wanted coffees saying to go upstairs & someone would be up shortly. Twenty minutes later no-one had come to our table despite someone coming up to the other table upstairs in the small area to bring food.
We appreciate they had been busy, but to wait twenty minutes & still not have had anyone come to our table to take our order, especially as they knew we were there & what we wanted (which was straightforward) is nothing short of poor service. When we went back downstairs the two women were behind the counter & the customers outside had all been attended to.
Not good enough. We left!
