What a wonderful place to spend a birthday. The owl experience was amazing which included 5 owls in total. As before the staff are helpful and knowledgeable. Every visit here has been wonderful. My 8 year old grandson enjoyed it in February so it appeals to all generations. Well done and thank you once again for a brilliant visit.

We’ve visited this falconry centre a few times over the years and always enjoyed it. There’s a huge variety of birds and they all look really healthy and well cared for. The flying displays are such a delight to watch and the setting is also beautiful with wonderful views of the lovely countryside of the Cotswolds. Amy and Chris in particular have a wonderfully warm and engaging way of talking about the birds - so friendly and humorous but also really informative - the perfect balance between giving you information about birds of prey whilst also being approachable and entertaining. I only give 4 stars rather than 5 this time because one of the staff (Mark) was a bit sarcastic when someone asked a question and slightly put them down as if it was a ‘stupid question’ which I felt a bit uncomfortable to witness. Some people don’t know anything about these birds and I think staff should be welcoming to people asking any question. No matter how obvious the question might seem to Mark it’s not nice to embarrass a visitor for wanting to learn more.
Another point I wanted to make was that Mark heavily stressed the idea that birds get no enjoyment whatsoever from flying - and I’d question whether the science really backs that theory up. Birds have dopamine receptors in the brain for example, and there’s lots of evidence of birds engaging in playful behaviour etc. To be so emphatic about that statement is probably not justified by the science, and it’s also a fairly negative message to be giving in a display that intends to celebrate these wonderful creatures. I recommend anyone interested in the subject to do their own research as it’s a fascinating subject.
Anyway - overall I’d recommend a visit here to anyone - and we’ll definitely be returning again at some point. The birds are the ‘stars’ of course - and Amy and Chris do a great job of helping them to be seen at their best. Thank you :)

We visited yesterday and my husband and my dad both did the Flying Start encounter. It was brilliant value for money, and they got a full hour up close with the birds and flew three different birds of prey.
Chris and Amy were both incredibly knowledgeable about the birds and very friendly and helpful.
We also stayed and visited all of the birds and watched two of the daily shows. Each show is different, with different birds being flown. Again Chris and Amy knew so much about the birds and their passion for these creatures shines through. The shows are informative and engaging, and we really enjoyed both of them.
The bird enclosures are spacious and the birds are very well cared for.
Also on-site is a garden centre, a cafe and the arboretum. And the views over the hills are stunning.
We had a fantastic day out, I would recommend the Falconry centre to anyone who likes birds of prey, you won’t be disappointed !!!

Great place, so interesting. Just rocked up in the morning as they opened and gained entry with no problem (it was the beginning of March so no school holidays). We watched and listened to the first display around 11.30, it was absolutely fascinating and the employees who led it were obviously passionate and loved the birds, making it all the more enjoyable. Learnt some interesting things and now have a real soft spot for these creature. Thoroughly recommend

I love Birds of Prey, so my wife and I decided to pay the Falconry Centre a visit.
They have lots of parking and so we paid and walked around and saw loads of falcons, eagles and even a young peregrine named Toot.
They seem to be very happy and and have a lot of room in their enclosures to fly around and the Centre is designed around the hill and they have lots of tree cover from the sun if it gets warm in the summer. It seems an ideal place for the birds to live.
One of my favourite birds is the Bald Eagle, they have a young one just near the entrance and it is amazing. It looks very much like a White Tailed Eagle because its white head has not come out yet (see pic). They are beautiful but the size of their talons impressed me, just right for catching a salmon or trout.
We walked around and saw various birds, they all seem well looked after and happy, they make a lot of noise and I saw some from South America which is didn't even know existed. At 11.30am we went and watched a bird display, it was really good, they had 3 birds out and each one was different.
A Red Backed Falcon, a Vulture and a Peregrine named Toot. They were all different, the Falcon was young and was being trained but he was lovely. the Vulture named Maggie was unusual because it has an acute sense of smell, which is very unusual for vultures. The man doing the display made it very interesting and enjoyable too. The final bird was Toot, he was swooping around and at one point flew right past my head with a swoosh, I felt him pass but he was really cool.
Thank you for a wonderful day. We will be back in the Summer

I took my grandson to the centre as a 10th birthday treat and it was a truly wonderful experience. From the phone call to book the experience to the end of the visit I only have praise. The staff are welcoming, informative, friendly, and clearly love what they do. We enjoyed the flying demonstrations and my grandson was able to see 5 different owls up close - 4 of which flew to his hand. We really appreciate the staff taking such time and care to enable such a memorable experience.
The whole thing is enhanced by the wild red kites flying with the black kites from the centre!
The whole place looks loved and items in the gift shop are inexpensive.
When you have a comment of “that was the best birthday nanny” in the car going home - it says it all.
Thank you to all the staff - we will be back!

This was a visit we had only planned for the night before. It's a little place attached to the Batsford Arboretum. Considering the fact the ticket is an all-day ticket (meaning you can come and go as you please), the prices are reasonable. We began by watching the first show of the day. The birds were very well trained and fascinating to watch, and the trainer was well informed on them. Rarely do we see such shows, so to see one as good as this was a fresh and great experience for us. After this we viewed the rest of the birds. There were many interesting species here, from the famous bald eagle to the unusual secretary bird. All seemed well care for from what I could see. As much as the large or unusual birds were impressive, I found the smaller birds like the burrowing owls and pygmy falcons quite interesting too. There is a well-stocked gift shop here, and there are other activities such as booked private experiences and more shows throughout the day. Learning about the conservation work to save some of the species is also amazing to learn about. There is a great deal to do here for all, and it is an attraction worth seeing when in the area.

Absolutely recommend this lovely place. 180 well cared for birds to see and 3 really interesting displays. Kelly, Amy and Chris are fantastic hosts. They know so much and explain it very well. They obviously love their jobs. Allow a few hours here. Lots to see and very good value.

What an amazing little place hiding away in the cotswolds. The staff are amazing and so friendly, also let a bird land on my daughters arm which she keeps talking about

We did the two private experiences that Cotswold Falconry offers - Flying Start and Owl Experience. Both were very enjoyable and we highly recommend both experiences. But even if you do the private experiences, be sure to sit in on any public displays that are being offered. The public displays are different than what you experience with the private offerings and all nicely complement each other. We worked with Amy and Kellie and really appreciated their passion, knowledge and love of birds. They made the day a very enjoyable experience.

We were free to take as many photos as we wished. We took photos of birds in their habitats as we walked about. During the flight demonstrations we had some close encounters and have nice photos of those.

Can you take your dog
Sorry no dogs allowed in to the falconry centre. However, the Arboretum, Garden Centre and Café all on the same site here at Batsford are very dog friendly.

How long should we plan to stay at the Centre? We have a 12:00 reservation for the "flying start" experience. Can we visit the other things in the centre before our experience?
There are a few other things in the area we wanted to see (specifically the Rollright Stones) and need to arrange private transportation, so I am trying to figure out what time.
Thank you!
The centre is open every day from 10.30 mid-February to mid-November with approx. hour long displays at 11.30 1.30 3.00 (& 4.30 during BST). The pre-booked 'Flying Start' experience ends in time for the display that follows. Flying Start participants have an all day pass to the centre. Depending on schedule and interest some people will just enjoy the hour, others will stay all day.
We are on the same site as the wonderful Batsford Arboretum and the popular Garden Centre and Café. Great for an afternoon walk and lunch.
If you visit the stones do make sure you count them properly. We take our guests there and all will comeback confused on how many there actually are.
Do check your 'Flying Start' reservation as we don't do them at 12.00. It'll either be 12.30 or 2pm.

Has anyone walked from Moreton to the Falconry Centre? The site says use Monarch's Way but I don't see that thoroughfare marked on Google Maps. Traveling by train so would need to walk or take a taxi to and from if available.
From the High Street follow Corders Lane. Look for footpath signs for Batsford Arboretum by the Co-op. It will take 30-40 minutes to walk the 1 3/4 miles. Not only can it be a very pleasant walk through typical North Cotswold countryside, it also saves doing the long uphill walk up the drive if walking along the road. It is an across fields footpath, so suitable footwear, clothing etc. I haven't checked 2019 bus routes/times, but there is should also be a bus that'll take you half way from the station. If planning to go by taxi pre-booking is recommended. The centre is open every day from 16th February until 10th November during 2019.

No, I’m afraid not, for obvious reasons! It’s an amazing place and not all the wonderful birds are behind glass or in cages.
