All the car parks! Best route is through the park and up the fell, we did this route, see link. Look at Walklakes website for a relatively easy route up to summit, 3hours, 6 miles?

I think it would be difficult to get lost around Rydal Water and Grasmere. Park at White Moss Car Park or one of the other public car parks on the A591 and then follow the footpaths around the lake. I'm sure the kids would love to see ( go in) Rydal Cave. Look at possible routes on google map or search one of the many walking route sites on the t'interweb

Hello, sorry I've not come back sooner, as regards the 79 year old, I would say not suitable, to be honest there are no easy routes and it's quite a steep climb. Best not to put yourself in any danger.

You can also park at White Moss Car Park on the A591 and walk up the Fell from one of the Rydal Water paths

Hello, we're drowning in panoramic views, I could say Keswick and surround, but get on any hill, even somewhere low, like Latterbarrow, and you won't be disappointed.
