Most people probably just come to visit Wordsworth's grave but the church itself is definitely worth a look. It is dedicated to St. Oswald, King of Northumbria who is believed to have preached on the site around 630AD. The present church was built about 1300AD. Inside is plain and simple, but very beautiful and peaceful, and the old wooden beams of the roof are amazing. The church also contains a number of memorials, including one to Wordsworth, and a more modern stained-glass window depicting St. Oswald.

Beautiful church inside and out, worth a walk round
The grounds are well kept and nice to sit and rest in with the Wordsworth family graves made nice for visitors to see

A lovely simple church and churchyard, the gravestones of the Wordsworth family were hard to read, would love to see the daffodil garden in flower.

Nice to walk round the church, where William Wordsworth and Sarah Nelson (gingerbread shop) had! First church I’ve been into with a sofa in it!

This is an historic Church in the centre of the village and well worth a visit both inside and out.
It seems well cared for and a good place for quiet reflection .
We were particularly taken with the Daffodill garden to the rear of the Church, developed 20 years ago and adjoining the graves of William Wordsworth and his family.

We didn't go inside the church but only visited the grounds to see Wordsworth's grave, which is railed off and so easy to find. We also spent 10 minutes in Wordsworth Daffodil Garden - a small garden next to the church and just behind the famous gingerbread shop (both reviewed separately).
The church is located in the centre of the village. Grasmere is a picturesque little village, most famous for its gingerbread shop. We went on a fantastic walk to Rydal Caves from Grasmere, walking around Grasmere Lake and then up to the cave (which was crazy busy!) and then back down via Rydal Water. A long walk on a very hot day but absolutely beautiful, we highly recommend.
A huge carpark on the outskirts of Grasmere, just a short 5 minute walk. Stock Lane Carpark, LA22 9SJ at cost of £8 for all day. There are 2 electric charging points here.

I visited this church on a trip to Grasmere as i didnt want to mountain climb with the family. It is a beautiful church, well worth a visit, and he graveyard contains Wordsworth's grave along with some others of the family.

An unusual feature is the straw over the entrance and the church floor, maybe signifying some festival, but unusual nonetheless.

Located adjacent to Wordsworth Daffodil Garden. The burial grounds of St. Oswald's Church is the location of William Wordsworth's grave. Almost his entire family is also burial here with him. Fantastic to pay tribute to someone whose poetry brought much childhood joy.

Great little church, very welcoming (even to visitors) and lots of info. Looked really cosy inside and even had some leaflets and artwork available to buy.
