We stopped here to make a purchase and we're surprised by the short queue! In and out quickly and easily with our purchases, we were not disappointed with the gingerbread! Still great every time!

We went mid-week, had no queue, and the gingerbread was out of this world. Its well worth queuing for if need be.

Terribly disappointed that this does not taste how it used to. I’ve been coming here for 30 years and it’s a highlight of my trips to the Lake District every year but I visited this week and the gingerbread just doesn’t taste as good. It used to have a lovely rich creamy taste but just tasted kind of flat. I normally go back to the shop on my last day to buy several packs for family and friends but won’t be doing so this time. I really hope they can sort this out and return to how it used to taste!

We called in to the Gingerbread Shop on our whistle stop tour of Grasmere. The gingerbread is made on site, the sweet, rich smell of the baked goodies is mouthwatering and we couldn’t resist buying two packs of 6 cookies. They are delicious!

Terrific range of gingerbread, toffee and Kendal Mint-cake and all sorts of jams, preserves, spreads and sweets, all presented in a lovely old cottage in a picturesque village. Well worth stopping for.

A lovely baking smell wafts through the air to tempt you, but it's a tiny shop so most likely you'll have to queue to get in. Interesting to see inside but you have to quickly decide what you want and then out again. Didn't think the gingerbread was anything special though, it's quite hard, best dunked in a cup of tea!

Been eating Sarah Nelson’s gingerbread since I was a boy in 1950. Although best eaten freshly baked I don’t have that option, living as I do in the Antipodes! Fear not lovers of this exquisite teatime treat (maybe goes slightly better with coffee?) I keep mine in the fridge and it lasts for weeks - it does go hard, but 15 or 30 seconds in the microwave and I’m practically back in Sarah’s kitchen!

Any trip to The Lakes isn't complete without a pilgrimage to here. A unique but delicious product makes a perfect gift, either for others or yourself. We left with two carrier bags full! And on a cold January day the hot ginger drink was a joy. Thank you.

The gingerbread is the best. We only had to queue for a short while because of the weather, but I'd quite honestly queue the length of Windermere for some of this gingerbread! Lovely little shop with friendly service - love the uniforms too!

Minimal free parking in Grasmere, but several 'pay and displays' - One to the rear of the Garden Centre opposite the Churchyard & Gingerbread shop would be the most convenient. Hope that helps. H

The opening hours are 9:15 - 5:30 Monday to Saturday and 12:30 - 5:30 on Sunday.

it's a tiny shop you can only get a couple of people in it at a time and there was a biggish queue to get in when we were there so I would probably say no to been dog friendly
