Turned up for a late afternoon bike ride, as was in the area with my bike from Cornwall, had a terrible time as the trails are badly sign posted and poorly mapped, got completely lost as am not local.
Struggled to find my way off what must have been private land to a road, then had to cycle an hour to get back to the carpark.
Toilets stank!

During our week here we have motored extensively throughout the Forest of Bowland. We have eaten locally and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Cross Keys Inn in Whitechapel. Excellent accommodation, good food and welcoming staff. We will return.

Went for a walk with my daughter and dog and was amazed at the beauty of the forest. Great walks in the forest and the density of trees is staggering. Parked at Gisburn hub and we just loved the forest. Can't wait to do it again

Absolutely stunning forrest.
We live near a well astablished forrest but it's got nothing on this wonderful beauty.

We were on holiday in Settle and were looking forward to a lovely family walk. The forest is stunning and a great place to visit but beware it is designed for bikers not walkers. After our 5 year old nearly got ‘taken out’ on a couple of occasions we sought advice from the staff on where was safe to walk. There is one ‘pink trail’ to follow for walkers. Part of this is by road.
We have visited many forestry England sights and particularly like to visit our local ‘Dalby Forest’ so we were surprised that this was primarily geared towards cyclists and not walkers / cyclists equally. Unfortunately we would not return.

The area of the Forest of Bowland is diverse with many beautiful quaint towns plus fabulous walks. It can be quite tough but there are "softer" walks available. It would take years to do the area justice but it is well worth getting started and getting out there, you won't be disappointed.

Turned up at 20 to 4 on Saturday on 28 September for the Guisburn hub and the cafe was already closed, dark and the ladies were sitting outside. Told that as it was quiet at 3pm they decided to shut early! It’s advertised as open until 4pm. Please be aware.

Is there an entrance point to the Forest and or visitor's centre? We are driving up to the Lake District and wondered if we could stop off for a while.

The forest of bowland covers a large area which includes towns and villages, hills, forest and moorland. There is an area of actual forest popular with mountain bikers, which I don't think has a visitor centre and is probably too far out of your way if you are travelling to the lake district on the M6.
