Staff lacked experience and knowledge.
Access to most exhibits forbidden.
Tramways, once important in London, were assigned to "peripheral interest".
Chaotic presentation.
I suggest visit to Brussels Tramway Museum.
There are better sites in the UK.

I visited on one of their open days and had a really good time viewing all the exhibits. There were some extra tours to show you more stuff such as posters which were interesting. I t was a really good day out. Highly recommended. The only negative would perhaps be that the Underground Roundels display is in very narrow terraced lanes with poor indication of direction.

What an amazing place, lots of really interesting artefacts and vehicles to get up close to. We benefited from a guided tour when we arrived which laid the foundation for our day and also booked a visit to the poster room. The volunteers are so knowledgeable and keen to share their extensive knowledge with visitors. We really enjoyed our day, it was great to see to some really historic pieces in the extensive collection that we were first introduced to courtesy of ‘Secrets of the London Underground’ on the TV.

We came fro the North to London to come here at it was well worth the travel

It was good to see things that so far I have only seen on tv
The museum was busy but not too jammed, the shop had very interesting things for sale.
The vehicles are in exemplary state. Thoroughly enjoyed the day and been able to walk around at leisure having a good look at the things not in the Covent Garden Museum

Firstly there is no parking at all unless you have a disabled badge. The are friendly and informative. Good atmosphere. If you are a bus and train nerd then this is for you. As an ex London transport apprentice of the 80s I found it a bit like memory lane. Worth a visit.

This was a great day out, a vey small group with a tour who knew his stuff, the staff were friendly and informative, but they have everything here, it brought back so many memories, just an amazing day. Worth a visit, it was really cheap and you get to see so much for your money!

This is our second time here and we absolutely loved it.
The smells are amazing and take you back in time. The tubes and buses and signage is excellent.
We ended up buying lots of bargains and a huge sign which we are putting in a special place in our family home…
Will definitely return again in a couple of years.
The staff are a credit to the depot.

The staff were all absolutely lovely, so patient and knowledgeable and friendly. It’s not pretending to be anything more than a far flung warehouse for the museum overspill. It’s something I’ve wanted to go to for years.
But I think the issue for me is that the entrance prices weren’t good value compared to other museums and perhaps this led to me judging it harshly. Although I was interested in the railway part of the collection, the ticket machines, the signalling panels, it’s all just look and don’t touch. The buses probably wouldn’t have suffered too much harm if you were allowed to look inside. They’re built for everyday use after all. There are barriers everywhere, stopping you from walking down a great many of the aisles to take a closer look and funnelling you into other people in a way that makes it feel crowded.
The kids tickets were expensive considering the lack of interactive displays. On top of that, the little ride-on trains weren’t running. One page of the website says the Miniature Railway ‘is open for rides only during open days’. Unfortunately another page, that I hadn’t seen, says that this only runs on the weekends. So it wasn’t my best choice for a school holiday trip. The craft opportunities redeemed it a little bit.
Overall, it’s great for enthusiasts. But if you want to really enjoy an immersive experience, there are better options for less money. The GWR Steam Museum in Swindon for example.
The opportunity to buy rail ephemera was very welcome. The variety of items on sale was fantastic and we really appreciated that. You can pick up some unique souvenirs and gifts.

Large fascinating museum, definitely worth visiting - suitable for all. Easy to get to on public transport. Poster exhibition was great.

I am not sure if I got it right - according to the website the depot is open only on selected (~2) weekends a year, is this correct?

Hello Pueddi, we open our Acton Depot three times a year. Our next Open Weekends are on 13-14 July and 28-29 September 2019.
