Landlord put chairs on tables an hour+ before closing - around us! Rude & unprofessional - avoid this disaster.

The miserable landlord gets the staff to put the chairs on the tables at 10pm on a Saturday night. The pub shuts at midnight so this is 2 hours before closing and made me feel very unwelcome. I won’t be going there again.

The food Thai food is great. Would recommend. Also sell pizzas in the garden. Kevin the guv is polite and helpful. Great range of drinks and real ale.

never been there before but the food was really nice and we would definitely go back again,and recommend it to anyone.if you get a chance go there well worth a visit

This is everything a pub should be and more- amazing, authentic Thai food, fantastic atmosphere, friendly landlord and staff, well-kept ales. If you don't fancy Thai food, you can get a great pizza from Papi's Munchies, who operate from the back garden. We always have the best possible time here and will always return.

Fine for drinks but beware ordering Thai food. Waited 45 mins for food to be served and when we pointed it out to the person serving we were shouted at that she only had 2 hands and what was she supposed to do. This despite only one other meal coming out of the kitchen for a full hour. If they can’t run a restaurant service where they can’t serve more than 2 dishes in an hour they shouldn’t have one. Ruined the whole experience.

Fantastic food, great service, very reasonable prices. Will definitely go back. Good location, close to Leytonstone Station.

Look: it is what it is, a proper old boozer with little in the ways of airs and graces. But that doesn't excuse a marked slide downwards. As an example - on a slow Friday, we saw orders being forgotten or mis-served; three tables who had ordered food had to either remind the staff or send incorrect orders back.
One table - whose order had clearly just been forgotten - had the audacity to demand a refund and were rewarded with a torrent of abuse from the owner. "It's a pandemic!" he said (despite the fact that he'd been walking around without a mask all night).
He had a point, to an extent. It's a challenging time for everyone. But it was very clear that they just were not on the ball, We've been here many times in the 'before days' and the service has always been okay, if a bit wonky. But when the staff to customer ratio is approaching parity, it's hard (and offensive) to blame obvious shortfalls on service on the pandemic.
It's not a bad pub. It's cheap, and the Guinness is arguably amongst the best that you'll find in London - worth the journey alone. But shoddy service and caustic arguments with customers isn't good. Our own orders were slow (and inaccurate), but them's the breaks. But if you're making a point of unapologetically upsetting your customers - many of whom I assume are regulars - you're not going to thrive in a changed world.

I took my nephew and his partner to the North Star as they are fond of nice pubs and had recently moved into a nearby area. I reserved a table in the morning and arrived to find them sitting comfortably and enjoying their different beers. We ordered Thai food with starters and mains and had an exceedingly pleasant experience. Lovely food, beautifully presented and accompanied by more beers. Excellent service too. Strongly recommended and they said they would definitely add the pub and its food to the list of places to return to. We talked about trying the pizzas next time. Thank you to the North Star.
