This park is right next to the huge church. Some signs indicate that it used to be part of a bishop’s palace. It’s a nice quiet green place to sit for a bit.

A lovely peaceful little park next to the Minster which gives the ideal escape from the bustle of the city centre. It’s well kept and there’s lots of seating throughout, with views across different aspects of the minster which are great to admire. If you’re in the area and need to rest weary feet it’s certainly the place to go!

We never fail to visit this area for a very personal reason. It contains the Kohima Memorial and our father was a veteran of Burma. We took along a Royal Welch Fusilier wreath to lay in memory of those of his regiment who served in that area - some who came back and some who never did.
Taking that out it, it is lovely in other ways.
Being here earlier than usual this year, we were fortunate enough not only to see an adult peregrine (they have nested in York Minster for years) but a couple of youngsters.
The general views of the Minster are excellent, there is a small but very pleasant sensory garden and it is a nice way pleasant way of getting from one place to another.
We can recommend the ice-cream!

York Minster is the biggest landmark feature in York and attracts big crowds ,justifiably so as it's a magnificent cathedral but located adjacent to the cathedral is Dean's Park ,a lovely tranquil park that's always a joy to visit.
The park is well kept ,the views of the Minster are magnificent ,it's just great walking around this green oasis of calm amidst the more touristic Minster Yard area,well worth checking out if you're planning a trip to York.

Located next to the magnificent York Minster is Dean's Park.
An oasis of calm, the views afforded from Dean's Park of not just the Minster but of the wonderful architecture around Dean's Park is a must go park area .
It's a popular destination but not to the extent of places such as The Minster ,I just love walking around here ,so much to take in and the history all around you is there to be soaked up,if you're planning a trip to York Dean's Park it's most definitely well worth visiting.

Used to absolutely love coming to Deans Garden at the Minster on my lunch breaks and days off when I lived in York. Such a beautiful tranquil area and hearing the bells chime, watching the world go by was just perfect!

Dean's Park is a beautiful park located adjacent to the stunning Minster ,it a peaceful area slightly away from the hordes of tourists that descend upon the beautiful cathedral, it's a really good place to wander around and take in the stunning views afforded from the park of the Minster and the buildings close to the Minster.
Most definitely well worth checking out if your planning a trip to York.

This is tucked away at the side of York Minster and does offer wonderful views of it but there is far more than that involved.
On the day we visited, there were some activities going on for children which seemed to be very popular. There was even the chance for them to use binoculars to try to spot the peregrine falcons who nested on the Minster - it has to be said that quite a few adults took the chance as well..
There is delightful little sensory garden and this year the clerics were having a sunflower race which was a lovely idea! It was also very accommodation to pollinators.
For us, however, the Kohima Memorial is very important as our father was a Burma veteran who proudly wore the Cross Keys. This year we even managed to buy some flowers in Regimental Colours to place near the monument.
It is a very useful route to take to places such as the Treasurer's House and Goodram Gate.
