From our initial booking for 2020 which was rescheduled twice due to covid, Carys has been excellent to deal with. Our boat Balliol was ready early, we had a comprehensive test run and were shown all of the features of the boat. It was very well set up for 2 couples. Our only problem was with some failing ceiling lights which made the kitchen and a bathroom very dark, but an electrician was sent out to fix them, and when that didn't quite work, the next day we had a lamp delivered to us. Terrific customer service. We were lucky with the weather and the canal was beautiful. Lots of stone bridges and enough locks to keep us interested!
Although Balliol is supposed to accommodate up to 8 people, it was great with 2 couples, and would be very crowded and uncomfortable with more.

Excellent fun ,beautiful scenery along the Oxford canal. The team we met at the marina and the staff when booking were very helpful and friendly, this was a very relaxing experience when booking and making arrangements. Boat tuition was excellent took you through controls etc the stay with you to do a lock and turn the boat .Boat was clean and well prepared for us. You meet many nice people on the way .I did this as 1 adult and 2 boys under 12 and we managed just fine.
Highly recommended the crew of college cruises.

Just arrived home from an absolutely wonderful three-week visit to England, of which our week on the canal in Oxford with College Cruisers was the undeniable highlight!
We hired the Exeter, which is a 65 footer that can accommodate up to ten. We had planned to have eight people in our group, however it turned out we were only four, which admittedly made things much more spacious. But it was everything we hoped for, providing comfortable and cozy accommodation while we coasted leisurely through the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside.
Maneuvering a 65 ft narrowboat takes some getting used to. The tuition we were given upon picking up the boat was excellent, though it takes a couple of days to really start getting the feel of it. A shorter boat is easier to handle, if that’s a concern.
The galley and kitchen were clean and well-appointed, and the dining area served as a homey focal point for the four of us. When another couple joined us for one evening, we just spread out into the lounge and enjoyed a warm and intimate evening of socializing, games and music making. We were blessed with mostly sunny days and only a few spots of rain, but either way the boat allowed us to enjoy the weather. Throwing open the hatch windows, we could either let in the sun or the sweet scent of the rain, and it was a treat to have swans poke their heads up at the window to see what we were up to! The wildlife all along the canal was splendid. We saw herons, kites, kestrels, ducks, moorhens, a kingfisher, deer, and even a family of badgers! There are numerous canalside pubs and small villages within walking distance. We did several 3 to 4 mile walks to find a pub or a shop, and those were lovely excursions.
We decided to arrive back on Monday night and spend the evening in Oxford seeing the city. We found plenty of great restaurants to choose from and had a great evening in town. The College Cruisers crew were more than welcoming, making space for us to moor right in front for the night and giving us a safe place to store our bags on Tuesday while we visited the Ashmolean before picking up our hire car. There is so much to say, I can't fit it all in! In every way, it was a most enjoyable and magical holiday, and I would enthusiastically recommend the canal and College Cruisers to anyone looking for a relaxing break from the fast pace of modern life.

Highly recommend College Cruisers, you needn't look elsewhere. They have everything covered. Boats are immaculate and kitted out with everything you need. Staff are very friendly and helpful. And the Oxford canal in the stretches up to Banbury is delightful. Beautiful countryside, pretty villages and peaceful locks. Just booked our 3rd trip with College Cruisers and planning to head out on the Thames (weather and river permitting). Wonderful stress free family holidays. Can't wait to get back on board !

We had a company retreat in this month and we wanted to do something excited during this time. This is when College Cruisers steps in and made sure that the journey which we had with them will be a thing to remember. Everyone on board enjoyed the trip and we really like to go again with the same people.

We took our dogs from Oxford out to Banbury and back towards Oxford. Lovely can and fantastic service from the staff at College Cruisers

We highly recommend College Cruisers. We were first timers, renting the Balliol for a week in August, the boat was immaculately clean and really well equipped. We arrived later than planned but they were all really lovely and accommodating. We were escorted through a lock and full turn thankfully, as we hadn't a clue!

Many thanks to Carys and Simon for their help with our narrowboat electrical problem. They took the time at the end of a busy Saturday to diagnose and rectify the problem to ensure our holiday was not delayed any further. Despite having their own business to run dealing with their own clients, we were made to feel welcome and reassured. We ended up having a great trip and so a big thank you for your help. A great bunch of people. We're continuous cruisers and tend to stick to the Oxford canal. These guys have, on multiple occasions, been life savers! They know boats like the back of their hands and, if you need anything repaired or an engine serviced, we highly recommend them. Plus, at least in our experience, they've got the most reliable and effective pump-out on the Oxford!

Just got back after four nights away on ‘Keble’ a small two berth boat and ideal if you’re new to narrowboating. You can turn this one on a sixpence and two can operate the locks quite easily. In the welcome pack is a map showing places of interest on your journey, including canalside pubs, excellent. I’d recommend this route for newbies as some canals just seem to be lock after lock after lock. All great fun but bobbing along at 3 miles an hour taking in the views and the wildlife are the best bits. Great fun.

Hello all,
Based upon what I've seen, the steering takes place at the stern. Does it though constantly smell like exhaust fumes from the engines? We want this to be pleasant, but steering for several hours in fumes does not sound appealing if this is the case. Thank you!

The exhaust did not trouble us as the boat is moving forward the fumes are left behind.
Not a problem for us

We have heard that it can be difficult to restock the boat once leaving Oxford. ? are there places to purchase food & wine nearby the canal along the way.

Hi. Sorry for the delay in replying.
I did not find it a problem as I just used google maps to show where to walk to shops from the canal. The shops are small but fine for essentials.
There are also plenty of pubs serving food on the canal.
We had stocked up on a few bits in Oxford before setting off.
I hope you give it a go and enjoy it as much as we did.

Hi. Is the much opportunity to take hikes or walks off of the boat thought the trip? Just am worried I'll feel a little confined if in a boat all day.
