We visited it with our friend from Slovakia who is keen gardener. From the front of the house is great view on Wells cathedral. We enjoyed walking around, from terrace to another one and then beautiful wildflower meadow with trees. There have been many plants/flowers which we saw for the first time and we also bought some. The owner was taking care about refreshment for and entry fee from the visitors. We had a chat with him, nice guy, as well as the gardener David who told us a bit more about some plants we've been interested in. It was very pleasant afternoon there and we would recommend to visit it - but first check if it's open as this is private garden and not open every day.

A hidden gem near Wells with beautiful gardens, fab views and a warm welcome. There was tea and cake available when we visited, served by the charming owner.

We love visiting this beautiful garden, lovely planting and gorgeous views. Also, very nice coffee and cake! We very much like the owner too, friendly and helpful. A very special place.

A low key attraction, a hillside garden with superb views over Wells and the Tor. It was lovely to see the friendly owner running the tearoom, and the flowers were still blooming and scented late in the season.

These gardens are very intimate and like a large private garden. The lawns are terraced down overlooking of The Axe Valley, the Somerset Levels and Wells Cathedral. The planting and care given to the garden is stunning

Very nice garden to visit using 2 for 1 offer from Gardeners World magazine. We did two walks round. Views of Wells excellent. Next time will ask to use swimming pool! Was a very hot day

We had a very pleasant afternoon here in the beautiful grounds and terraced garden, as Historic Houses members. The owner was manning the tearoom and was very pleasant, helpful and informative and his cakes were homemade, yummy and very reasonably priced.
I understand that his mother, who is in her nineties, used to bake and be in charge of the tearoom until a year ago. She has now moved out and is enjoying a well deserved rest.

Popped to this garden as local to us. Very pretty terraced grounds 4 acres of flowers and trees. You can also get tea and cakes here. You can spend 30 mins or an afternoon soaking up the peaceful surroundings. I did enjoy the gardens but felt a bit pricey at £5 per person, although do appreciate the funds probably go straight back into the garden. Lovely views over Wells.

We were lucky to spot that the gardens were open. You need to drive to the gardens which are situated high above the city of Wells. We chose a day when the fields either side of the drive were full of day old lambs. The gardens are large with wonderful views down onto the Cathedral and city. Thre are massive old trees surounding several lawns and many flower beds. Home made refressments are available and all at resonable prices. A WC is available in the main house. The beauty of this place is that few people find it.

I am disabled so we wondered if my husband could push me around if the paths are friendly?

It is a terraced garden with steps between levels. However there is a driveway down to the courtyard that a wheelchair can be pushed down. So in my estimation you could definitely reach top and middle levels with no steps. The bottom level may be accessible via a path into the arboretum and down but it would be bumpy ground so he's need to have the strength for that sort of ground vs the easier paved area or grass. It is worth visiting but may not be totally straightforward. Maybe contact the owners to check - they were very friendly and helpful.
