Been to both Rowley Mile and July course several times over the years and especially last season for both Guineas days, July Cup, Becky Hill and Sun Chariot Day, never disappointed with the day out, we love horse racing and will visit every single year!

In my honest opinion the Rowley Mile is the better course, it might not look visually as pretty as the July course but it's layout is better, parade ring is better, and views are great! July course in summer is lovely but it gets a bit crowded as the gap between the grandstand and the rail is a lot smaller than the Rowley mile course, so for instance Becky hill was rammed you could barely squeeze past people a lot of the time and that does impact how enjoyable it is, also July course bar queues seem to be so much worse than Rowley Mile, takes an age to get a pint!!

Parking for both is pretty good too.

We love a race day in the restaurant, been to Newbury, Chester, Lingfield, brilliant, expensive but worth it, because it's so expensive we do them every couple of years to treat ourselves!! We gave Newmarket a try yesterday, the VIP package, service was excellent as was the food but I don't expect to pay £490 to eat our meal in an overheated greenhouse!!! It was unbearable, unpleasant, unacceptable and ruined what has always been a brilliant day. Apparently the air conditioning was broken which I don't believe for one moment, the air con wasn't on for cost cutting reasons, if it had been broken and the management were really concerned they would have provided fans or at least given the water away for free instead of charging £4.50 per bottle! BTW, the water wasn't even chilled, perhaps the fridges were 'broken' too. Never again Newmarket, never again, hang your head in shame.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We sincerely apologise for the disappointment you experienced during your recent visit. One of our colleagues has responded to your email and has offered compensation for a future booking at Newmarket. Although we did our best to mitigate the situation, I understand how uncomfortable it must have been. We aim to provide a high-quality dining experience, and this incident fell short of our standards. Unfortunately, we were unable to get an engineer on-site to fix the problem on Saturday, and we did not have enough fans to provide adequate cooling for the entire space. All customers were given the opportunity to move tables away from the window which I know was still in a hot area but would take away some heat from being directly next to it. Once again, we would like to apologise for the experience you received but hope to welcome you back to provide a more enjoyable and memorable experience for you and to allow us to provide our usual high standard of experience. We’ve visited this restaurant several times in the past as it’s used as part of a race day package. We’ve always had a fantastic time. Today the staff were as friendly as usual and the food was excellent. What totally ruined our day was the fact the air conditioning had broken. We were sat by a massive window and it felt like we were in a greenhouse. We slowly got hotter and hotter. We both felt sick (we’re not young in our mid 60’s) and developed headaches. Basically the extent of the heat ruined our day. The staff appeared embarrassed as they kept apologising. I have written to the racecourse and will expect compensation. The racecourse really shouldn’t have allowed the restaurant to open as it’s dangerous being exposed to these levels of heat. This is not a cheap day out and has been ruined.

We did our best to mitigate the situation, but given the size of the area, we unfortunately did not have enough fans to provide adequate cooling to make a significant difference for everyone. We understand how uncomfortable the heat must have been, especially near the windows. Sadly, the air conditioning system failed shortly before the gates opened, and despite our best efforts, we were unable to get an engineer on-site that day. Due to the timing of the breakdown with it being so close to gates opening, we were unable to inform guests in advance, and I understand how frustrating this must have been. Free tap water was provided and available to all tables throughout the day, again we do acknowledge that due to the temperature of the room the water did not stay cool for very long. We would like to assure you that this was not in order to save costs, and it did sadly impact the entire grandstand. If you would like to send an email to east.administration@thejockeyclub.co.uk we would be more than happy to offer compensation for a future booking at Newmarket. The July course is lovely in the sunshine. Parking is easy as is the whole entry process. Lovely sunny terrace overlooking the winning post. Great food and excellent choice of drinks, fantastic service and I might be slightly biased as I won on more races than I lost on so in this occasion I came out on top. Highly recommended.

Attended the Becky Hill concert along with the pre race afternoon on what was to start as a great day but ended badly.

So lets get the best bits out the way first, the pre racing was awesome, with a great feel to the whole afternoon with sunshine, betting & great views of the course utilising our premium enclosure passes.

Ok now for the worse part of the night.
The concert was a sell out and knowing this we had spent £100 on the raised viewing stand.
The sheer amount of people there meant that unless you could levitate above the crowds you had zero chance of ever making it to the platform as the racecourse provide zero access to people who have paid for this extra unlike nearly every other UK venue that has designated walkways to access said areas.
I have never felt so uncomfortable in my entire life with no room to move at all in the crowd and with the various fights breaking out made for quite the start to the evening.
Security or crowd management was near zero at the rear of the crowd and i 100% believe if anyone would of had a medical incident in the crowd there would of been little to zero chance of ever getting assistance.
The whole evening was total unorganised chaos from start to finish and judging by the complaints on here i am not alone.

Now for what can only be described as the worse customer service and help i have ever received.
After contacting them about my issues & wasted £100 i was told i wouldn't get a refund and got the usual Health & Safety garb that's copy and pasted from another source. Multiple emails later explaining the various issues & unfortunately i got no further.
The most amusing reply i got was that we should of went to the premium viewing platform first thing & stayed there all night, unfortunately most humans require toilet breaks & at least some form of re-hydration.
The organisers at the Newmarket Nights & the Jockey Club need to take a really close look at not only the organisation of these events but also the poor sloppy customer service they provide as its pathetic and does not fit with a well known & supposedly great venue like Newmarket racecourse.

Things to note
1. WAY too many people in the main arena.
2. Lack of crowd management or staff for the volume of people attending.
3. Zero access to premium viewing area (Due to crowds hemmed in)
4. Terrible customer service.

I for one will never return to this venue, not just because of the wasted £100 but due to the lack of safety & terrible customer service.

You have all been warned.

Dear Carlosuk1, We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the pre-racing experience and the views when you attend our Newmarket Nights featuring Becky Hill. An evening of racing followed by an open-air concert on Friday 9th August. The upgrade you mention is an add-on to the ticket namely, The Prime Viewing Platform. It offers the best views of the stage, limited in number to give a comfortable environment to enjoy the music. This platform sold out for all our Newmarket Nights this year and we have had wonderful feedback. When you collected your wristbands (which give access to the PVP) from our office you were informed of the location of the platform also shown on the map. As you purchased tickets for the Premier Enclosure you would have seen the platform when you were at the front of the racetrack as it is positioned in this area. You were advised to go to the platform just before the last race to enable easy access, we never say to customers go first thing and stay there all night, as access to the PVP is not an option until after the last race. We would never expect a customer to wait around as we want customers to enjoy the racecourse and the facilities on offer before watching the concert. As explained in the emails prior to and post the event, we cannot be responsible for you not making your way to the platform in good time. We are sorry you feel there were too many people at the event. We agree it was very busy as it was a sell-out night, which we have managed many times previously, we can assure you the numbers were within our maximum capacity calculated and approved annually by the Safety Advisory Group. All our plans are shared and approved by the Safety Advisory Group, who we meet with regularly and they conduct pre-season and during performance inspections regularly to ensure we are a safe site and managed according to the plans agreed. We had a contracted crowd management team as well as police offers in and around all areas of the course. We had safety officers and police in a control room always monitoring the entire area through CCTV and reporting all back to the patrol team on the ground. We are sorry that this is not the outcome you wanted, and we do hope you change your mind about visiting again in the future. Kind regards, Newmarket Racecourses.

The day was really one we enjoyed will definitely go again Too many favourites game in for how we bet. Weather was very sunny.Had good seats in stand right opposite winning post.Not to far to walk from car park to entrance.

Following a few emails and phone calls, my husband and I made it to the race night followed by Deacon Blue.
We were extremely well looked after from start to finish.
All of staff were amazing, but a special mention to Chloe for helping with the booking and to Freya for assisting us when needed.
The Summer House restaurant was a lovely treat. The food was delicious and again the staff were excellent.
We also had a few wins!
Hope to return soon

A fantastic time was had by all the family at the dinosaur day, the kids were entertained all day and great racing to boot.

I was also fortunate enough to watch Becky Hill who was amazing to great two days and great value for money.

We attended the racecourse this weekend and WOW. We had tickets for Champions Lawn which gave it premier enclosure and so much more. The kids saw all the activities in the grandstand area and were sooo happy!! They had roaming dinosaurs, baby dinosaurs and FREE FACEPAINTING! We then got access into the garden, which wasn’t promised, but was actually no que at all and the staff were fantastic. Always smiling. We had table service for drinks in Champions Lawn, tote betting and the lady comes round. The seating was so comfy and perfectly located at the furlong pole, so the kids got the speedy action when the horses came past! Will definitely be back! Thank you to Newmarket Racecourse!

Had been looking forward to a day at the races and Becky Hill for some time, what a shambles it turned out to be. The main disappointment was the exiting, stood for 3 hours at the taxi queue for no new taxi's to arrive. In the end gave up and managed to book an Uber. Waiting on the main road, the traffic attendants gave up their car directing lights to a couple of drunken women, you can imagine the chaos! Leaving the local area, there were people just stuck at the side of country roads / sat in the road. Such a shame, won't be returning again.

Good morning Y3544AGsc, Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback regarding your recent visit with us for an evening of racing followed by Becky Hill event on Friday 9th August. We are sorry to read your that you will not be returning to our venue in the future. We advertised that the event was sold out and to help elevate the numbers of people coming on course, with added additional subsidised Outrider Bus Services from four locations, had additional free shuttle buses running in a loop from the racecourse, town, train station. On our website we do suggest pre-booking taxis with the option of having them waiting for you in the pickup point located at gate 2. The local taxi companies are not employed by the racecourse, so we have no control over their movements and as the town was so busy with customers utilising the free shuttle service and being left in town. they picked up many of their fares directly in town. Hence why our team brought over one of the shuttle buses for customers to get on for free to be taken into town. Unfortunately, some customers in the queue became quite abusive to our team and continued to be so despite our best efforts to help get customers moving.
