The Tyne Bridge is today probably the most famous and iconic of the many bridges spanning the Tyne between central Newcastle and Gateshead. It is striking.
It is, however, not that great to walk across because of the heavy vehicular traffic crossing it. It is better to see from the river, the banks, or the other bridges, notably the High Level Bridge, which provides great views.

The bridge always brings tears to my wife's eyes even if she only sees an image of the bridge on a TV programme. It symbolises coming home to her and why not!

I live her and still my heart thumps when i see this bridge. Its is everything to geordies, the surrounding area offers all sorts of food and drink so you can just sit and marvel at the view

This is an icon of not just the North but the whole of the UK. It isn't the oldest bridge across the Tyne in Newcastle but it is the best known. The best view of it is probably from the Millennium Eye or the Baltic.

The steel Tyne bridge is an iconic staple of Newcastle and the place of the Great North Run. This is a lovely looking bridge crossing the River Tyne and reminiscent of the Sydney harbour bridge.

There are many bridges crossing the tyne river. It is a very spectacular view, especially at night. The lights reflect nicely in the water.

I remember doing a jigsaw when 6 years old and teacher saying how well I did the map of the UK. There was this icon on it , so it was etched into my brain. Great to see it in real life. A true treasure

This iconic structure that is famous for the Great North Run, is the centrepiece and is something that if you say Newcastle it’s a possibility you say it first.
From every vantage point this bridge shows of the city I’ve taken hundreds of pictures to say the least.
So in summary this bridge passes the Tyne of your stay in Newcastle.
