Called in today for a drink and decided to have food. Normally the Shwarma platter is my go to but decided instead to try the Korean Chicken Rice bowl. OMG it was AMAZING. Thought Shwarma was good but this Rice bowl was another level. Will deffo be back. Hubby also enjoyed his Cottage pie. 😁

Fantastic pub with fantastic real ales on offer.
Wonderful outdoor space with friendly staff. Bar menu offers lots of choice, food is absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. A great place to meet friends and enjoy an afternoon session!

Obviously Tyne bar is amazing, it's steeped in history unfortunately the staff are terrible, they Swan around like they are too important to serve you, more interested in how they look to concentrate on customer service. This pub will always be busy as it is situated in such a lucrative setting but this isn't an excuse to hire uninterested poorly trained children.

I'm simply not having this. We're renowned for our excellent customer service, as is evident by our high scores on here and elsewhere. The management team and myself (Fred, the owner) simply wouldn't tolerate the sort of apathetic approach to customers which you're describing here, and all our young, motivated staff (NOT children and NOT poorly trained) take a pride in their work. As for your assertion that any operator would be successful with a bar in this location, you should give it a try yourself. We're probably one of the busiest bars in Newcastle, and there's a very good reason for that - first rate service, good value for money and great food and drink! If you don't appreciate this, please take your custom elsewhere.

Great bustling pub, packed full with punters on a lively Saturday afternoon. Great selection of drinks and quite cheap compared to some establishments. Would recommend and return!

Great busy pub. Found it on burger night - excellent value. Good music., good beer, good pub grub. A pint and burger and chips for a tenner! Great location too. What’s there not to like!

Visited for lunch on Saturday after touring the Victoria Tunnels. 25% discount on food on showing your ticket for the Tunnels. Food was absolutely delicious. Huge portions. The 2 lovely young ladies behind the bar are a credit to this place. Incredibly friendly and helpful. Will be back soon as even without the discount the food and drinks are very well priced.

The food was lovely and the atmosphere was very nice, however we accidentally spilled a drink just after buying it and the staff still made us pay for a new drink and seemed rude about the whole experience, will not be visiting again as this ruined the whole experience

Well worth a walk along the river from the city centre. Lovely pub, nice staff, great atmosphere, good choice of beers and very good food. Will definitely go there again when back in Newcastle.

Great pub with an even better selection of craft beer. Linked to Untappd too. Staff very friendly and attentive and the food looked good too
