We're looking for some trees for our garden and were hoping to also get some advice on garden plants. Drove for 40 minutes to get there and only to find out they're closed, on a Saturday in the middle of summer! It is our fault for not checking their opening times before going, but who'd thought in this day and age any garden centre would be closed on the last Saturday in June. Looking at some previous comments, its not surprising why they tend to get the garden to themselves. Rayton Garden, wake up ! Otherwise you won't have many followers left.

The Organic Gardens at Ryton are a must-see destination for anyone interested in the principles or practical aspects of organic gardening. The site is divided up into a series of inspirational plots that demonstrate the basic techniques of organic gardening – chemical free crops, composting, wildlife and bee-friendly gardening, water harvesting and companion planting.
Equally valuable, however, are the design elements that provide visitors with creative insights into how they might adapt and develop their own gardens, regardless of size. Throughout the gardens, the emphasis is on how attractive organic gardening can be, quite apart from the environmental benefits that it confers.
Our first visit to Ryton was about 25 years ago and we were amazed at how the site has evolved since then. A very attractive entrance building containing imaginative displays, shop and a comprehensive library leads out into a neat demonstration area that is surrounded by a vast range of display areas, design features and cultivation techniques.
We had the place almost to ourselves on the day we visited and enjoyed a pleasant picnic in the grounds. We came away brimming with ideas and renewed enthusiasm for our own organic garden back home, together with a small bag of edible lupin seeds to try out
Only five miles from Coventry, Ryton is conveniently and centrally placed for a visit. Anyone with an interest in organic gardening will find plenty of food for thought there.

We went on a weekday, was lovely and peaceful beautiful planting especially loved the paradise garden! So much to see that we spent ages walk around plenty of shade from the sun with also benches to sit and enjoy a picnic they do have a cafe but wasn’t open the day we went. Staff were amazing so friendly and helpful I was able to add my husband to the garden organic membership that day so it was free for us both and the membership is only £3.75 a month worth it for such a beautiful escape on a summers days. Plenty of information about composting with examples of growing and I learnt so much about plants I’d never thought of growing in the U.K. some people have moaned about the weeds but I honestly didn’t really see it as a bad thing and it’s an organic garden. it did not detract from the feel of the areas in each place plus we have an allotment with two of us and weeding is never ending, I suspect it would take an on staff army to pull every flower people perceived as weeds in that amount of space. Plus they bring benefits such as insects that help with pests can’t be ignored which is a good example of organic gardening. Would go back again and will be with family perfect day out! 🤗

I looked on there website today,it said that today may differ in opening times ,it didn't say it was closed.
Perhaps they should be clear on the website, is it open or not.
We drove 45 minutes to find that out, what a waste of our time.
What's more, because of that ,we won't be back.
Sort your website out and be clear on times / days opening bank holidays like today

I travelled a long way to get here, and I would sum it up with the phrase "A crushing disappointment". I remember when (HDRA, as they were then known) were beacons and leaders in the field of organic growing but under the weak leadership of the last couple of chairmen they have abandoned their roots. The gardens are an outrage and there's nobody to ask advice.
And after they sold out their partners at The Organic Gardening Catalogue, there's really nobody to turn to for organic advice. Very disappointed.

My autistic 6year old son and i visited the local farm open day. We decided to have a look at the Gardens and shop while we were in the area. The idea is lovely, all organic, the information is fabulous, i did learn a lot however it is tge variety which i was wowed by. This was therapeutic and relaxing for the 2 of us and we really had the best time. We did buy pumpkins and sqosh and a few other pieces which my son wanted. I have fallen in love with the plant Lambs ear (i think) as my son was stroking it so much we will be buying some! Really reccomend a free few hours with the natural well kept gardens. Such a variety with engaging signs and posts, plants, activities. Our pumpkin which we brought is so perfect, my son and i are so pleased, we will be cooking and carving her (yes she is a girl) for the festive season. The lovely loos, with full disability access, clean walkways, areas where large enough to not be cramped but enclosed enough to feel alone in the garden. The therapy garden was the most valuable for us. You really did make this a fab day for us, a giggle and loads of chatting and excitment was created from here. We usually travel really far to avoid people and 40miles from home to this beautiful centre will become a regular in our adventures.

Thank goodness it was free to get in on the day we arrived. The cafe was closed due to a private function and the garden was abysmal. It looked derelict. It was full of weeds, things were flattened down, it was devoid of interest and extremely disappointing. I will not return.

Had not visited for a while but thought it would be nice to see how this facility has developed but were very disappointed. After driving over thirty miles, although free entry, the visitor centre facilities were closed, including the cafe that was hosting a private function. The owners of the cafe seemed to think it acceptable that visitors are warned of this by a sign outside the cafe. Ended up having a quick look round and finding refreshment elsewhere.

A nice peaceful place with a variety of gardens - formal, informal, flowers, fruit trees, paved, grassed, hot houses, exotic, water features to see. We visited when travelling to Oxfordshire so took a detour off the motorway. Garden Organic is a showcase site for organic gardening. Originally a charity called the Henry Doubletree Research Foundation, the gardens are called Ryton Organic Gardens. They are at a small place called Ryton-on-Dunsmore. Quite hard to find but easy once you have the right turn off the road :-). It is just outside Coventry and not far from Rugby. Full details are on the visit section of the website. The TripAdvisor tick box choices don't provide for the explanation that there is an admission charge in the week and free entry at the weekend. However, as several reviews here have explained, at the weekend the visitor centre and shop is closed, while the cafe is open (closed on Mondays).
I would recommend visiting if you want an hour or two of peace and quiet, and you can spend more time if you want to look at the information about organic gardening techniques. It has a variety of open areas and a cafe - we only had drinks and cake but the food looks nice. The standard entrance cost to the gardens is £5.50.

It was when we went and called Fresh Rootz but notice it has now changed name to Fusca Cafe and Restaurant.
