This is a beautifully presented exquisite building. It’s history and explanations are documented in each room including large print versions for those with reading difficulty. There are also tablets which can be used for the tour.
The restoration and preservation of this wonderful place is a real credit to the city and a must-see when visiting Coventry. It is within easy walking distance of the cathedral.

The guildhall was recommended to me by a local lady and my visit did not disappoint. The staff are very knowledgeable and totally emersed in the history and keen to share their knowledge. I liked that I could go at my own pace though I struggled a little with the technology, but that's me, A truly beautiful building with a lot of history.

This place ought to be better. Staff are friendly. Their admission system is clearly not easy to use and does not support staff well: it is slow and inflexible. Entry is very pricey is you dont have a local GoCV card.
Reasonable attempt to make the place accessible. The interpretation is not obvious as it appeared to be large print material only. The mobile tablets are difficult to use, in part because they try to do too much and forget the basics. There have been decent attempts to make it child friendly, especially the dressing up gear

Lovely afternoon tea with my children, and they were so accommodating after a miss communication with our booking. Server was really pleasant and the manager went out of his way to get me a name of the bread as I'm gf and was really tasty, as we're the cakes and treats.

Went to the Victorian Christmas event here. Mulled wine and a mince pie on arrival followed by the entire story of Dickens' Christmas Carol (we expected excerpts) narrated by a fantastic young actor, followed by carols round the tree. If I don't do anything else this Christmas, I am well satisfied !

Could have been fabulous, I had the savoury afternoon tea the food was lovely but omg the service was terrible. All lovely young girls waiting but none of them had any idea - drink poured on friend, had to ask for tables to be cleared which was painful to watch, but drinks didn’t materialise, given an incorrect bill which was still incorrect after being “corrected” given bill but no one came to take the money until we were told it was closing time. Please get these kids trained as imitative was missing

Well where to begin. Went for afternoon tea as a birthday treat with friends. A message had been left via telephone to ask for two traditional and two savoury afternoon teas, unfortunately the message hadn't been picked up due to technical issues with the phones and the savoury tea had run out. We were a little disappointed, but the staff member who served us was, Sophie I believe her name was pulled out all the stops and the savoury teas were delivered. She really couldn't apologise enough, this is a relatively new venture and all the staff want it to succeed and seem to care quite passionately that customers enjoy themselves.
The venue itself is stunning, it's a beautiful and nationally important building, possibly the best example of a medieval Guildhall in the country and deserves to be better known. Stand In the courtyard and see how the upper stories slope off at different angles, look at the medieval stone work and the graffiti scratched into it by long gone people. The restaurant is in the undercroft, it's down a flight of stairs but there is a lift. It is very atmospheric with its ancient pillars and vaulted ceiling, there is plenty of space. The tea itself was lovely, some novel inclusions, there was plenty of food and the scones were excellent. My husband was thrilled by the chocolate desert and even happier when he found that the flowerpot was edible. It was all so enjoyable, tea was topped up and we were all stuffed. Theres going to be various events and menus for Christmas and it will look spectacular with decorations, it's such a beautiful venue. We will be back and we hope they do really well and become established in Coventry which will really be enhanced by this venue so close to the Cathedrals and the town centre. Highly recommended.

Attended half term holidays and enjoyed the ghost tour. All staff were informative and welcoming. There was a digital tour, film introduction and really interesting items to see including the really impressive tapestry. The member of staff (Victoria?)was outstanding with her knowledge and presentation. The team members in the historic kitchen were really engaging. Top quality venue and team.

One of the few buildings to survive the 1940 bombing, St Mary's Guildhall is a superb example of medieval architecture.

Hi Paul. The Guildhall is open 10:00am to 4:00pm from Sunday to Thursday during the visitor season. Admission is FREE although any donation is much appreciated for upkeep of the building and historic collections.
