We could not have asked for better tour guides, Stan and Charlie made our day!
Lots to see and my children enjoyed becoming a policeman and policewoman by trying old helmets and hats on.

We brought our Scouts for a ghost tour around the cells. Martin and the other staff were very friendly and showed us around, including the drama of the court room and the dark and dimly lit cells! Not recommended for the under 10's! The exhibition in the museum itself was very interesting.
Worth noting that there are no toilets on site.

Little gem totally worth a visit, staff are incredibly friendly and guided tours are provided by retired members of the police who makes it a rich and personal experience.
The tour takes about two hours that fly by and you will earn a lot of the regional and national history of law & order.

What a fantastic tour!
Definitely worth the money and worth a visit.
We had a lovely tour guide who was so knowledgeable and showed us all sorts and told us so much.
So interesting seeing the cells and the court room.
Well definitely be coming back :)

Having been to the police museum in Glasgow we were pleased to see this open, in we went expecting the usual displays of uniforms, old handcuffs, radios and suchlike, but it was that and more, we were taken down on a tour of the actual old police station, starting outside where prisoners would be brought in to custody,our guide was great, an ex police officer who worked there in the 70's, he was full of very interesting facts, we went in the old office, the male cells and the womens cells then up tothe court room, where many tv programmes have been filmed apparently. Well worth the £7 .

My wife & I visited the museum in June & enjoyed our experience. We went on the tour which took in the cells & courtroom as well as the other exhibits. The guys manning it were all very friendly. I would recommend the tour.

Brilliant experience - not expecting such a wonderfully historic and interesting tour with our fab tour guide Alan.
He had a wealth of knowledge and answered all our extra questions.
Really enjoyed this even though my teenage kids were a bit sceptical but were raving about it after
All the staff were lovely including guest appearances from 'wickets'

Loved the tour with out two small nephews today who, despite their silence, lapped up all the anecdotes Stan shared with us and they felt very comfortable asking what certain things meant, such as hanging.
How interesting to learn of Victorian punishments for simply stealing a coat to keep warm compared to the sentencing of today! How things have changed and not in our opinion for the better.
So good to have this museum and the staff to remind us of a bygone time and we will definitely be back.

A great insight into Policing down the ages. We'll set out with old cells and a visit to the courtrooms. Definitely get a tour guide. Ours was dressed in an old uniform from early 1900s to add to the occasion. We booked online for about £4 each. Definitely worth more than that.

How do I purchase tickets for a tour? I’d like to visit on Good Friday. Is it open then?

Sorry just seen this clearly to late. You just turn up for a tour Fridays 11X4. Saturdays 12x4. The museum closes early Nov until March. Last tours go about an hour before closing. (Take about an hour)

Yes there is a fee but only a few pounds per person. There is a large car park called The Broadway very close to the museum
